Honestly have no idea what sort of game we'll get. I can remember saying prior to the second meeting last year that the only thing we could expect was that it wouldn't be a 0-0 snooze-fest, and then it was a 0-0 snooze-fest. In six games we've witnessed exactly one goal scored prior to half-time, and that required such atypically awful defending on our part that a midget scored an unchallenged header from a corner. The match against Palace broke a string of eight consecutive league results where neither team scored more than one goal. If that holds it could be another game decided by a singular moment of quality...or if someone does the game a favour and scores early, it could be gleefully silly.
Adkins was, and still is the better manager out of the two. Pochettino has been hyped up by pundits and other managers, he is an alright manager, but one that is overrated. Just look at our style of play this season compared to last season, yes we're conceding less goals and we're winning more games which is good, albeit with an improved team compared to last season's, our style of football is absolutely dire, very, very boring, just like the manager's pre and post match interviews. Under Adkins we played free flowing football, we attacked, scored goals, excited the fans who pay a lot of money to watch these millionaires play, he generated a great bond between himself and the loyal fan base. Pochettino is a curry with no spice, whilst Adkins is a curry with spice. Legend. Adkins wins.
To tell you the truth Mikey, the more games we play the better we are. Seems to benefit the whole squad - providing there are no injuries. I have kept a close eye on the Saints and you chaps have improved since last season (we had two draws) and I think it will be a beast of a match on Sunday. Two young managers, two good sides - it could be the rissoles that decide it. More to follow...................
Come on Nigel there's no need for this and you've got a game tomorrow you need to be preparing for as well!
What if I told you that Nigel Adkins was really an Illuminati plant, that he's a sleeper agent for the invasion of the UK by the lizard people? Don't believe me? Rearrange the letters in his name and you get Snake, Idling. Doesn't get any more clear than that...he is traipsing around England, laying the groundwork for the rise of the New World Order, and we should be damned glad that Reading will bear the brunt of it.
And you're wasting all the perfectly good usernames in your continual quest to make two posts before getting banned. In two years, the only usernames remaining will be some variation on UnitedNationsFan1553
You'll still be a ******. I guess things never change. And by the way, don't hate on me just because I'm smarter than you...sad.
If there's one thing that you have proved lo these many months and monikers, it's that your intellect is undoubtedly on another plane.
One day, when you understand how the world works, you'll realise how correct I was about 99% of the topics we have discussed in the past.
Indeed. In fifty years senility will overtake my faculties, and I'll see the world through your eyes.
Its a bit like saying that the best football we played was under those Dutch guys. OK, we couldn't defend against a rice pudding and we couldn't a score goal to save our lives but, that part, it was very entertaining with some nice passing in the midfield. Therefore, the Dutch guys must have been our best managers to date!
Yes they turned out to be right, MoPo is the better manager and is seen as a coup for us, attracting players like Wanyama, Osvaldo and Lovren. Although you have a point, although he can speak English he does not yet feel comfortable doing interviews in English. Adkins was quirky, a bit cheesy at times, but unwaveringly positive. I think I speak for most people when I say that although we agree with the decision Pochetino has not yet captured the fans as Adkins did, on a personality level. This will change the more he feels comfortable with English and we are starting to see more of his personality come through. This is in no way a criticism of MoPo, its natural when coming to a new country to work where you are not quite fluent.
The strange thing is that, even whilst not speaking English, Mauricio is more free with information. Nigel said a lot, but loved secrecy (which many of us thought wrongly was down to Nicola). Mauricio is more likely to tell us that someone is injured and not playing. I also love his double act with the adorable David...especially when he corrects David's translation (gives the game away there). I don't want MP to speak English...he will lose his mystique
Having read the posts on page 2 I can't believe I contributed to this! I feel sorry for Adkins, he was always a legend in my eyes but coming onto not 606 at that time in the morning when he should be concentrating against Leeds is just sad.
