Seems to be as good for Sunderland as he was for us, never really took off for him at the kc.

If you go to their forums half their fans think he is ****, half think they are not using him properly. Personally they are not using him properly. You dont buy a guy who needs a man next to him and a quality passing midfielder and then stick his ass up front by himself. Just because he is big and strong doesnt mean he can be up their alone. Even on the US national team when he plays up top he has Dempsey and Donovan coming up behind him who he can play it off and Bradley passing it to him. I am not personally a huge Altidore fan but it isnt fair on him to play him like they are playing him.

Doesn't seem to have improved since his time with us - would be surprised if he gets amongst the goals for them. Glad we didn't buy him.

On the subject of Sunderland, their fans think they're bigger than they are. They think because they get great crowds that means they automatically deserve success on the pitch.

Success on the pitch meaning the best players & managers.

Unfortunately for them, reality is a bitch and they haven't won owt since 1973. They slag off anyone who doesn't fulfill their fantasies, and if their managers don't get them back to those heady days they hound him out, like Brucey.

    Yea I agree.

I am surprised he decided to sign for them. He would have been better signing for a team much more like us than them. With a Huddlestone passing it to him and Aluko and Brady up with him I think he would be a decent forward. Not a 20 goal man but more like a 10+ man.

Plus anyone who watches Altidore on the US national team knows that he has doesnt take ****. I can only imagine what he thought of paolo di canio and I would be shocked if he wasnt one of the players who demanded the club fire him.

Wasn't much of a fan of Altidore when he was here. But he seemed to do well in the Netherlands and for your national team, who are improving well.

We dont have the best players but I think we use them well and play a game that fits their abilities. Think how many of them are in the MLS <doh> yet somehow they win games. Our fifa ranking isnt accurate in my opinion but I dont think it is far off.

I have said it for years, it is the pace of the PL that finds players out; they need a good engine with gears to move through, or they need a very good footballing brain - Altidore has neither. What I don't understand is why Mammone is second string; has something happened?

A lot of the strikers from the Dutch league haven't exactly lit the league up, have they?

Altidore, Wolfie, Bony (though he has been absolute class in Europe, and does look pretty decent tbf)...

There was a thread about Altidonkey a few months back and I got slated for saying he was ****.

I've seen him scuff some right sitters on MOTD for Sunderland so my view stands.

    ****ing useless.

He was nowhere near good enough when he played for us and I've seen nothing from him at Sunderland to suggest he's improved, he just looks out of his depth.

As said above, play to his strengths and he might be a success. There is no striker stronger than him and watched him bat away Skrtel with ease on Sunday.

I always thought he looked decent along side JVoH. Unfortunately it never really came off from him here.

Wasnt Kezman something like the record scorer ever there with 50 goals every season? (I might be exagerating slightly). Then he was absolute dogshite for Chelsea.

He scored about on in two in Holland, then one in six in England, then one in four in Spain, before going back to one in two in Holland(it was nearer thirty a season).

Jozy Altidore had great 'supply' when he was at AZ but the English premier League is far from the Eredivisie. He is up against the best defenders in the world here and is not getting 'supply' at Sunlun. Brett Holman and Viktor Elm were supplying Jozy at AZ and popping a few in themselves. Holman was snapped up by West Brom but lasted one season and was released by mutual consent. He is now playing in the Emirates I think. Jozy has been described as a 'quarter-horse' in that he can sprint for short distances but cannot do so over distance. He looks far from comfortable from what I have seen of him in the 'lone striker' role. When he does manage to find some 'empty space' nobody seems to know where he is. I would have preferred him going to the Bundesliga as they appear to play the sort of football that suits him. My honest opinion after watching his games this season is that he will never do any good at Sunlun.

I think PDiC bought him to play alongside Steven Fletcher. But SF injury woes carry on as he damaged his shoulder @ Wba the other week and now has another few weeks out injured. Pity the new manager as that squad looks rank.

Faye should be able to look after Jozy Altidore well enough on 2nd november.
