Nearly half of League 2 clubs are reliant on their main shareholder for financial survival..... 8 out of 10 expect to make a loss before (or after) dealings in players....... http://static.bdo.uk.com/assets/documents/2013/08/BDO_football_report_2013_13_08_13.pdf
Bleddy hell notdistant, I've got nothing better to do at the minute but even I couldn't be arsed to wade through that lot. What I will say though is I don't think anyone believes a league 2 club is going to actually make money. I'm sure plenty are reliant on main shareholders to prop them up. The point or difference between them and us is that their owners ARE prepared to dip in their pockets a bit rather than looking at the profit they can themselves make to fill those same pockets. In Brent's case he isn't even prepared to share any of those profits at all he is going to make on the back of owning Argyle. And he is making it on the back of ownership because it was the Argyle deal that opened all the other doors in the City. Other owners are friends of their respective clubs whereas Brent isn't. This is the same old argument but you started it........
Well true and not true sensible........how many other clubs in the lower leagues are having a new grandstand.....whatever size that you see it... being built, without the money coming directly out of the existing club funds......money which has never been available to strengthen the team ?.......answers on a postcard please.
Let me phrase it another way Sensible. Nearly half of League 2 clubs are reliant for their very survival on their owner not walking in front of a bus. Reliant on not having their owner's business going bust. Reliant on their owners not getting bored and taking up yachting. Reliant on their owners not getting divorced and taking up with a high maintenance younger woman (or vice versa). Accepting that football clubs don't live within their means is the root of all evil.
