Just wondering what peoples travel plans are to Old Trafford. Pretty keen to go to this game, but not so keen on the £100 train fare or 6 hour coach journey plus the extra journey of getting to St Marys.

Anyone know of any alternatives or cheap train fare websites?

Only suggestion would be to find someone to drive.

I might be completely wrong but id imagine petrol to be approx £60-£80 and this split between 3 or 4 isnt bad at all!

Also on a good early run would take around 4 hours so saving time too! (Lots of driving for 1 person though)

Just a quick search and return trains to Manchester from Southampton ive found for £78. Still alot but pretty fair for the distance. Im not sure how far away it is to the ground and that though!

I'd definitely recommend driving if you can find a few of you! I went with a friend up to Liverpool and it didn't cost that much more than saints coach and definitely cheaper than train. Definitely faster than the coach and it's nice to be more flexible with your day too.

Flybe go there, airport a bit of the way out but returns from 160 or so. It takes less than an hour.

Taking jogging as perhaps twice the average speed of walking, I guess that would be 34 hours?
