It's not all about stats with Sakho though, he's rash at times and leaves the defensive line to try get an early tackle in. If he misses (and he has done more than a few times) he needs people to be alert enough to cover or risk being calved open (and we have a few times too). He needs more game time and playing with a regular and experienced partner to bring him through, but he'll be class in the end. Toure and Sakho for me. That's no disrespect to Agger and Skrtel though, I'm a huge Skturtle fan, but Toure is a beast and Sakho has so much potential.
Ffs I bet you have a shrine to him at your house - your dislike for him is so strong it's coming across as a deliberate attempt to deflect your infatuation for the man-monster
Feel free to read my recent praise for him too He's been playing very well and I'd like nothing more than for him to prove me wrong, something I thought he had done after the 2011-12 season. However, he reverted back to his ways of old last season hence me referring to that standout year as the odd one out. He has the talent, I've never denied that. It his lack of footballing brain leaving him dependent on a strong vocal partner and his rugby approach to man marking that irritates me
I get what Gerrez is on about with Skrtel, as much as he's doing well at the moment if he starts having a bad game he never recovers and then seems to take a lack of confidence into the next game.
Agger & Toure would be my first choice. Toure has been the star performer at the back so far this season and Agger hasn't done anything wrong to be dropped, if it wasn't for his injury he'd be in the first team. Sakho is a new player and I think he needs to work for his place, despite his price tag. Not saying h shouldn't play, just shouldn't expect to walk into the team. Toure & Agger started the season with 2 clean sheets, in the last 3 weeks without Agger we've conceded 2 to Swansea and drew, 1 to United and lost, 1 to Southampton & lost and 1 to Sunderland and won. Not saying it's all down to him but the partnership was clearly working.
Could also be down to new formations at the back. 3 defenders and 2 wingbacks is very different from a flat 4 in terms of picking up runs and marking
We didn't play that against Swansea or United from what I remember. Didn't watch Southampton so can't judge that one?
A good conundrum to have, we have options in defence. Toure, sakho, agger, skrtel, Johnson, Kelly (I really rate Kelly and wish he got more playing time) cissokho, Enrique. Lots of good strength in depth. We are light of quality in the 2nd third,
