Have we ever actually identified what you do like to watch? Did you not see Redmond slam in the winner against Soton? Or whipping in the cross for Hooper to equalise last week?
In the Southampton game he had the opportunity to play in RVW who was onside, unmarked and in goal scoring position but he didn't pass, Redmond isn't a bad player but he has a negative attribute a lot of wingers have when they have the tendency to hog the ball rather then pass.
One incident, other than that he has been fantastic. Admittedly an unpolished diamond but still a diamond.
Er, but did he or did he not score the only goal in that game to bag us the three points? Yes/No* *delete as applicable
There has been a couple in the Hull game not as clear cut but that is the most memorable in my opinion. His still young so plenty of work and from what I've seen I'm impressed he just needs to pass it a bit more.
Yes, thats two instances in 540 minutes of football. What side of the pitch was Redmond on for the Hooper goal? How many shots (and I use the term loosely) has he had to slam that goal in? Is whipping one good cross in really that great an achievement, a lot of very average players can manage it, its not a special gift, certainly with the rarity Redmond achieves. Why would anyone want to watch someone running with the ball in space and then give it away when the threat gets serious or scuff a shot, whats enthralling about that? Its not a witch hunt against Redmond because I think eventually he'll be a good player, I don't think Hughton is playing him correctly and I think he has an unwarranted influence to how the team plays.
I see people are blaming him for the Hull result, however I can distinctly recall Johhny Howson blazing a couple of shots over the bar from outside the box when RVW had made brilliant runs and got into superb positions that just needed a a little dink to put him in. Was it Howson's fault we didn't win that game? Was it any one individuals fault we didn't win that game? No, it's a team game and a lot of people were at fault that day. However nobody can argue that Redmond wasn't instrumental behind us bagging three points again Soton, he created the opportunity for himself and finished it with aplomb - bosh! 1-0, thank you very much
Never blamed him for losing a game for us, all I've said is he could perhaps be a little bit less selfish sometimes and that's not solely aimed at him too, there are other culprits and it doesn't take a ****ing rocket scientist to work them out. He scored the goal that won the game but we would of won it 3-0 if him and Whittaker passed the ball to the RVW instead of going solo.
Why can you not blame him for Hull, but then give him the sole credit for Southampton. We may have won 3-0 if he hadn't of played. We may have beaten Hull if he hadn't. I personally think we could have. Your right its a team game, however creating opportunities for himself is what he does, unfortunately they are rarely good ones and they starve his teamates from having their own and better chances. There is really not a lot to cutting in and shooting against a wrong footed defender. Its the very least I'd expect in terms of quality.
There will always be different views about what is actually happening on the pitch, but I recommend this neutral view of the tactics used in the Stoke game to see the issues more clearly: http://eplindex.com/41224/player-performance-analysis-leroy-fer-stoke-city.html?
i get more and more baffled with each passing day when reading some supporters comments. let's just say it how it is rather than two, over the top, polar opposites when the reality is bang in the middle! nathan redmond - very promising young player. quick, skilful, exciting to watch, eye for goal. problem is, he is 19, and as with most 19 year olds he isn't strong in the 'making the right choices' department just yet. let's not forget, he has been playing because our first choice left winger, pilkington, has been injured up until now. there is no way hughton will be expecting him to play the majority of our games this season - at least, not from the start. the kid has an awful lot to learn but he also has plenty of raw attributes that he can build on and become a key player, not just at our club but maybe for his country one day too. as is the case with our manager, the key is a little patience. quite why anyone expects a 19 year old, who has played 5 premier league games, to make perfect decisions in every game is beyond me and once again shows a mind-numbing lack of understanding of young footballers, but sadly i'm not surprised by these comments after reading some of the garbage i have about the manager. redmond will be frustrating at times - he will drive fans, team mates and the manager potty when he fires at goal when he has a colleague better placed, but that's what you get with young players and there is just as many positives with him at the moment as there is negatives. why pick on him? its absolutely pathetic! sure, be critical if he makes the wrong choice but don't start saying he's crap or whatever - he blatantly isn't! he's got more footballing talent in his toe than all of us put together. and more importantly, he's OUR player - a norwich player. josh murphy will soon be in the same boat - another who has plenty of potential but eyes personal glory before a good pass. this is down to his age and it is possible to coach this out of them. should we not play him at all, never give him a chance because if he gives the ball away when he should be doing better, he'll get booed or fans will blame him for a defeat? once again i find myself ashamed of some city fans - they really do have a knack for showing themselves and the club up with their constant, negative drivel. good night.
Go on then old son, you have a go - good luck with that So you weren't a big fan of Hucks then? I seem to remember that's what he used to do rather a lot, the kind of stuff that lives long in the memory of City fans and what makes him a shoe-in on the left wing for most people's 'all time NCFC XI'. Please, I'm not directly comparing the two because rightly after a handful of games that would be ridiculous, but what precisely is so wrong about a technically gifted, fast, pacey and very skillful winger "cutting in and shooting against a wrong footed defender"? I'm not disagreeing that I'd like to see him switch across to the right during a game, and I agree that I'd like to see our wide men put more crosses into the box with the 'better' foot, but he's played half a dozen games for goodness sake so to even begin to pick his game apart and find faults and weaknesses already is pointless. As has been said and as I said throughout the summer, I don't expect him to be a regular starter in his first year or maybe even two, and I'll be honest I'm surprised at how many games he has started - including 120 minutes midweek - but I guess the best way to learn and develop is on the pitch. Hootun's not stupid (no, I assure you he really isn't) and I'm sure he'll know how and when to use him as to not burn the lad out. Pilks had possibly his best game under CH which was massively encouraging, and of course when he's fit and on form I'd have him starting on the left over Redmond probably 75% of the time. However he clearly has a part to play this season, whether from off the bench or starting. He has a shedload of potential, is technically very gifted and already can glide past a defender as easily as anyone I've seen in our shirt since Hucks, or is it just me who has noticed this? At his age surely he can only get better, particularly in terms of his decision making so I just don't see the need to judge what he can and can't do already, it is churlish at best, ignorant at worst. I won't mention his under-21 form as I know you like telling us he's not playing against kids at this level, and I know you seem to just brush off the fact he scored against Saints, but go and watch it again - it's a great goal that he pretty much created from nothing, in only his third top flight appearance and those three points could be vital come May (ok, two points for the pedants ) However if you're going to start going into the territory of "we might have won 3-0 if he hadn't played" then there isn't really much point arguing with you, though you'd think after all these years I'd have learnt that by now eh?
Pretty much agree with you supers. My memory's not that bad and I seem to remember him popping up on the right a couple of times against Everton - albeit only briefly. Carrabuh - A question for you. Who would you rather played out of these two - Elliott Bennett or Nathan Redmond?
Wow I thought I'd leave this yesterday and carrabuh has dug one of his trademark Chilean miner style holes Right up there with "I don't rate African players"
The NCFC Fan Spectrum is way too complicated. A much simpler 2-fold categorisation would do perfectly well: 1. The "I know better than the manager" brigade 2. The rest
