Ffs, how many times. Assem Allam(Guardian 12/09/2013) - "By next year I will change the name to Hull Tigers, I cannot afford to run the club by fans' feeling". You don't need to read between the lines, you just need to be able to read.
Are you pissed or simply ******ed? This is a thread about Nigel Clough getting the boot. There are plenty of other more specific name change threads in which you can bury your head in the sand if you so wish.
My comment was some want Derby's frugal policy which rarely brings success. Nobody said anyone "wishes for a lack of success." If you read the link and the quote on #12 that should have been clear.
2 guys in my office, both Derby fans, were miserable as fook this afternoon when McLaren was mentioned. One said he'd rather have Poyet. I did laugh.
Good luck to Steve. Good larker for City and has overachieved in the game - how many ex City third tier larkers have managed the national team? And we take the piss out of him?! He should have his photo somewhere prominent at the KC.
Totally agree that Nigel's sacking was very harsh. McLaren was a great player for us but he's been a crap Manager. Don't understand this one at all. Now PDC...that was a no brainer!!
Actually named Derby's Head Coach, there seems to be some form of distinction these days between the two jobs. Also Mancini is the new manager of Galarasary.
Absolutely. I know I’m going outrage the 606 masses here but I really rate McClaren. Consciously or not, most people adopt their ‘personal’ opinions from the media.
A crap manager who was the right hand man for the most successful club manager in English, who won the league in Holland, who managed the national side.......maybe you could find one or two words of approval for some gangly kid who did his apprenticeship at City when we were **** and who scaled the heights?
McClaren isn't as crap as people make out. Sadly he will never shake off that dreadful period with England.
Yeah, like we've produced so many more successful England managers over the years. I'll never understand why some fans parrot the metropolitan Fleet St bile against our city, our team, our players and our managers. McLaren was hated cos he wasn't like Hoddle, Hodgson, Greenwood, Ramsey, Venables.... from within the M25. Therefore he was to be regarded with disdain and ridiculed if possible (like Graham Taylor, another provincial who never played or was associated with a London club (Watford doesn't count))
Was Nigel Clough ever really doing a good job at Derby? Their mediocreness is what would have happened to us if we'd stuck with the Pearson/Pearson/Barmby combination. He was a classic PRson signing, signed because the fans would be sentimental towards him and give the chairman an easier time, nothing to do with his ability as a manager. See Barmby here and now Radford at Hull FC.
Derby don't spend money. That's why they're the most average, unambitious side going. A manager can't just produce a winning team from nothing without some money to do it with.
To be fair to Derby they have a great academy. Didn't they lose 2 key players before the transfer window shut?
McClaren is a brilliant coach and with the way they're setting things up at Derby, I think this is probably a good appointment for them, I think he'll surprise a few.
