Where did Bale play when he came on, didnt see it

Who knows how he'd have done for us in the Prem. I think he'd have been good though, he didnt want to come but admitted he was tempted

The 24-year-old was reported to be the subject of a late £22million bid by Brendan Rodgers in the closing stages of this summer's transfer window.

Costa, who started his career with Portuguese side Braga, conceded a move to Anfield was on the cards but ultimately chose to reward the loyalty Atletico have displayed to him.

"I was close to leaving, Liverpool are a great team," he told Mundo Deportivo. "But after fighting so hard and overcoming difficulties to get my place at Atletico, how could I leave?"

Bale looked lost, didn't look like he had that same pace and burst about him? It was pretty brutal viewing and not the best way to debut in the league.

Costa would have done well in the prem, he is a UNIT. he also has a decent pace about him. Atleti are the real deal btw.

Yeah them and Napoli must be outsiders for Champs League

Ancelotti is still finding his feet and they'll be better once he does

Did Bale not look 85 million worth then? <laugh> ****ing ludicrous

AND Benzema was useless and Isco was one of the most creative players in the game......... so Carlo subs off Isco and leaves Benzema on. The crowd were going MENTAL, absolutely losing their ****. I don't know what is going on at Madrid but for some reason Benzema stays and plays and is as useless as Matri at Milan.

Napoli is one of the first teams to effectively use a 3 back with wingback formation in a long time and it ( once they got it right) took them from mid table to CL for those doubting if 3 in the back could work. This was before Cavani, hamsik, Lavezzi, etc were even known.

Their fans will go mental, they think chuck money at it and it will be okay

Im not saying 3 at the back cant work we just dilly dally around with begging for someone to **** up. And I we dpnt close quick enough

I think our real probs lie in mid

Lucas is playing like a schoolboy and Gerrard looks bored

At least with 3 cen defs it lets Gerrard push up more

While Cout is out Id like to see Gerrard up there with his jobs being close their def and def mid down and be creative and get back to some ****ing piledriver shots he used to do

His legs wont be a prob as he wouldnt be asked to be box to box

But then who'd move the ball around in mid that BR wants? Allen? <doh>

    We need another CM

"Show me your CM, and I will show you your team" Hendo, Lucas, Gerrard at the moment. Not really good enough in the long run is it? Would really have a look at Banega at valencia with all of their problems, if Diame's clasue of 3.4 mil is still there would have a squint there. Really missed a trick with Matuidi back when Comolli first came along. That guy is a boss in the mid and can play the ball about as well.

No surprise our best seasons were when we had Hamann, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascher, Sissoko stopping everything and creating everything.

Exactly Bluff. We used to have the best mid in the league! :(

For 3 at the back we need good wingbacks as well, we'll have them once Johnson (Need to rediscover form) is back/Kelly fit and Enrique (Needs to up his game)/Cissokho back from injury

Henderson is not a right wing back <doh> imo

You know who would be boss if this is a formation we are going forward with? Maggio from napoli, excelled at that wing back role under Mazzari. Zuniga ( also napoli), armero, Montero from barca, Juanfran from Atleti, a few players that could do the trick.

Well your European football knowledge is certainly more than mine so I'll go along with what you say

Maybe in Jan we can pick up some players that have been knocked out of Champs League?

The midfield three of Masch, Alonso, and Gerrard was probably the best midfield trio about at that time. Perfect balance, and all 3 were world class. It used to be exceptional watching them in the middle <ok>

Once Coutinho is back I think Rodgers will revert back to 4-3-3 but having the option of reverting to a different formation is something that we need to do.

It's no good churning out the same formation every week regardless of the opposition.

    Yep,

Masch to break up their play, Alonso turning our def into Attack and Gerrard with the killer thorough balls and piledriver shots

Im convinced we'd do better Gerrard still playing that role, his def duties ltd to closing their defence and adding sparks to our attacks and SHOOTING when hes in a good position

No getting back to the edge of our box

For those who do watch that vid, Suso is just brimming with confidence with the way he just does not care if it is 1 player or 3 and he takes them on. Mugs a few off as well!

    He's been doing well

Cant watch the vid as on stupid works laptop so will watch later

If Suso comes back a lot better than he went makes the 7 mill on Alberto look a huge amount of money, already seems pretty high with him not even on our bench and getting 10 mins in games...........

Could he not at least be tried in mid?

Is he more a Cout player or centre mid? He played in Gerrards pos in pre season didnt he?

He's played well all season for Almeria and is starting wide right but in a narrow formation and he does tend to drift into the center in most games. He's doing a bit of everything, controls tempo with his passing, taking players on and holding the ball well and drawing fouls. I have no doubt he'll come back a better player. His shooting is not great that's the only negative I can think of.

Banega when he is focused is quality, bit of steel, bit of guile, can unlock a team. Sort of if you mixed mash and alonso as he has both sets of qualities.
