Well, we've been drawn to the dregs of downtown Dagestan....great!

Anzhi as is well known now, are not the team they were, their own version of Ivan Awfullotofmoneyov has pulled the plug.

Anzhi were supposed to be the other decent team in our group, but there demise in the last few months has seen them stripped of all the stars and imo are no better than the other two poor sides in our group. They languish 13th in a generally poor 16 team league.

I can sense the excitement building in each and everyone of you as you read this!

I'll watch because its Spurs, but imo there's very little to be gleaned from these early fixtures.

We were very close to a "Played For Both"....thankfully a bullet dodged, which also sounds like your average Saturday night in Makhachkala!

As I said elsewhere: Chelsea - Anzhi - West Ham

    It's a triple-header of knuckle-dragging fans.

I'm not disagreeing with you and your lovely match thread. No, wait, I'm am in fact disagreeing with you.

Their website says they are sitting 16th out of 16, with a total of 6 points from 11 games.

    http://www.fc-anji.ru/

And someone should teach them how to spell. It's "Tottenham", not "ТОТТЕНХЭМ"

Is it too early to say "In the bag"?

I bow to your interest in their current position, its of no surprise to me their position is worse than when I checked where they were last week, our combined efforts would suggest their current position is....in freefall! :)

With no wins in 11 games (6 draws, 5 loses), I'd say it was quite hard for them to fall any faster or any further.

I'm predicted 10-0 to us. Every player, except Lloris, will score. Lloris' only shot of the game will cross the line but will be disallowed due to being offside. He'll earn the nickname of "dirty goal-hanger" during the 90 minutes.

So! we are to travel all this way to play football for a bunch of rascist imbeciles, great! let's hope their team attempt to play football rather than the statues game presented by the Norwegians.

Best solution is for the Russians to join the North American leagues, they are only 30 miles from Alaska, then we would not have these futile trips.

As posted in the Hammers thread, this would be my team...

    --------------------------Friedel-----------------------

    Naughton-----Kaboul-----------Chiriches-----Fryers

    -----------------Sandro-------holtby-----------------

    -------------------------Kane--------------------------

    Lamela-----------------Bobby------------------Chadli

Though if AVB decides to line up with Spurs all black XI I would support that decision too.

    Something like.......... :p

    ------------------------Gomes-------------------

    Walker----Kaboul--------------Naughton---Fryers

    ---------------Dembele-----Paulinho-------------

    Townsend-------------?????-----------------Rose

    -------------------------Defoe---------------------

    "Is that even possible??"

Would require some Academy assistance. Something like ...

    Archer
    Naughton - Kaboul - Fryers/Fredericks/Stewart
    Sandro - Paulinho - Dembele - Lennon
    Defoe - Obika - Dawkins

As long as we have a back line that can deal with aerial attacks, we should pretty much nullify them trying to exploit Lacina Traore's height advantage over the majority of the human race.

Basic shelling or from MIG 35's?

I've heard their only tactic is bombing down the wing, so your observation makes sense (doesn't happen too often with you, so well done! :D)

I see a war pun theme here!

Traore's actually a decent player. I'm surprised he's still there.
Wonder what the chances of Adebayor making the squad are? Probably not good.
None of our first XI should even travel, in my opinion. Might not be a walkover, but it's too draining to risk them.

I think we should play Ade thinking about it.

Would serve him right to travel to Russia!
