Has anyone with Adblock (and/or Adblock Plus) noticed that it's been far less effective recently? I can't figure out whether it's just because I've switched to using a different PC and there's something wrong on my end, or if Adblock has actually gotten ****tier. I used to be able to go on FirstRow and only see like one ad, but now I get them all. I even gets ads on Reddit where there used to be none, and I'm having to put up with Youtube ads before videos now.

What I find infuriating about Muslim women having to wear the traditional all-over veil is that they do it because it is to help the men-folk from becoming inflamed with desire. That's a pretty damn backward way in a culture, as far as a traditional western culture is concerned, where rights and responsibilities go hand in hand. OK, there is more to it than this. Some Muslim women happily wear the veil because they want traditions to be upheld, or simply because they are modest themselves and feel more comfortable wearing the veil. To me it smacks of oppression, whether the female want to wear the thing or not. The fact that it is not the prime male responsibility to control themselves is simply wrong. I don't expect Muslim women to parade themselves everywhere, but I do expect the same level of freedom should be allowed to them as to the men. I shall be interested to know what comes out of the court case where a Muslim women, who wears an all-over veil, has been ordered to testify in court with her face uncovered. We'll see whether Allah strikes her down afterwards or whether her community shuns her. After all, it is her responsibility to cover her face.

Working fine for me on Firefox, I assume you've checked all the settings/exceptions? Mine sometimes randomly decides to turn it self off or not activate on certain web pages but 99% of the time works like clockwork.

See if you have the latest version, Joe. I use Adblock and have no problems. Indeed, the only problems I do have is occasionally I have to switch it off to view content, as the advert is smacked on the front of the video that I want to view. The SKY website does that. Also, check your computer through with CCleaner or EasyCleaner.

Tbh, I was expecting a clutch of members coming on here today saying they had gremlins on their computers after having visited this site yesterday, and specifically after clicking onto -DTLW's [now deleted] thread which provided a link to watch the whole 90 recorded minutes of yesterday's match against Palace. Whilst, if you downloaded and installed the necessary software, you would have been able to see it, it came with an army of malware which you certainly didn't want. I had to check it out, at top speed, without infecting my own computer [it did, but I quickly killed the gremlins] as I use no protection on my PCs except Ghostery and Ad-Block plug-ins. Other, less techie, members may have fallen foul of all this stuff. Fingers crossed I deleted the thread before those significant others went for the bait.

EDIT: And -DTLW has learned his lesson. :) And by the way, I use Firefox as well.

I once saw a Muslim woman in a "lazy river" in Florida and she was wearing a veil. I don't think her face was covered, but of course Muslim women aren't allowed to "reveal" themselves. I doubt she felt comfortable getting her normal clothing damp and wet.

Refereeing was lively again. ****storm at the end of the game. Score was 2-3 with 60 seconds to go.

Defence sky their clearance, two defenders get under it and attempt to shield it for the keeper.

The keeper doesn't come for it, and a midfielder gets in and attempts to round the keeper. At this point the keeper grabs hold of the forwards shirt/shorts and sends him off balance. I award a penalty, from which the home side score to make it 3-3.

Full-time is imminent. Whistle goes, and I'm confronted by parents calling me a cheat and telling me I bottled it.

    Fun, fun, fun. :)

One time I was playing in goal for my team and we were drawing, it was the last minute and they had a corner. They crossed it in and it went through the side netting, hit my knee and went in. The referee gave the goal. <doh> Our team's parents were livid and the referee got so much abuse!

Well that's quite understandable! Although I'd ask where his linesman was in that case...

Their argument to me was, "He grabbed the ball with his right hand". Well yes, but he used to his left to foul the opponent...

Once I was refereeing an U18's game where I had cautioned a player for pulling a player back. Shortly afterwards he went in late on another player. I wanted a word with him but hadn't decided whether to give him a second yellow or just a last warning. He seemed to think he was going to walk as he refused to come over - which made up my mind for me. I went for the yellow card but then he called me a pathetic **** which meant he went from last warning to second yellow to straight red in a matter of seconds! Oh and I sent off another player after full time when he punched another player.

Last time I used CCleaner was last night, so I'm fine in that department. I'm using an old PC of my sister's which I've rejuvenated, and I've got it online for the first time in a couple of years, so it probably has something to do with that. I'll reinstall Chrome and all the extensions and see if that does anything. I've also got rid of all the stupid antivirus and anti-malware programs which were on here, because they might have been interfering with it, and stripped it right down to just Microsoft Security Essentials and CCleaner. You don't need anything more than that, and I wish more people were aware of this fact. All these bloody programs that claim to be essential and make you pay for them.

I think Pie means ancient history in the sense that Nigel left the building quite a while back. The settlement is relatively new news. £500K is a pretty good send-off, in my opinion. Hopefully, that's not a send-off and don't darken these doors again, type thing. But I fear it might be.
