Always puzzled by the talk of players being past it when they get in their early thirties. Should be at the peak of their endurance capability at least-maybe their fast twitch muscles are slowing down. This guy is 32 and has just set a marathon record-2 hrs 3 mins. Thats a 4:41 per mile pace which is unbelievable. http://seattletimes.com/html/sports/2021925673_apathberlinmarathon.html
Most of these Kenyan marathoners are from remote rural regions and have no accurate records of their birthdates. An amazing number were "born" on Christmas Day (guess the year). He could well be much older than 32.
Koren's an example who supports the point though. His body obviously can't cope with a full season any more. His form in August/September has been better significantly than later on in the season every year and he always starts getting injuries around April time.
It's really annoying when people are critical of footballers ages. Deano proved that quality has nothing to do with age. If we were interested in a 31 year old player, people would be saying he's over the hill. It's like they're trying to sell the players on before we even buy them. I'd rather have a 30 year old striker with a good record than a 19 year old prospect who may or may not turn out to be good. For those who disagree, I give you Freddy Adu.
