Not really as you are using a set group of fixtures to try and make your point valid, but what I have done is expand that set of fixtures to use games prior to that to counter your opinion that Michu up front is ****. Just look at those games. Moore started against Reading (0-0) Schecter started against Newcastle (2-1), Liverpool (0-0), Arsenal (2-0), Middlesbrough (1-0), Sunderland (0-0) So including those, We had a striker on the pitch for 11 of those 23 games. Of those 11, we won 4, drew 5, lost 2 = 17/33 Of those, 4 finished above us, 1 was from a division below Of the other 12, we won 5, drew 4, lost 3 = 19/36 Of those, 9 finished above us, 3 below So even taking that into consideration, Our main games against top of the league clubs, we had Michu up front, and had a very very good return, so again negates the "claim" that Michu up front does not work. Your also using games where the whole team were playing fairly off the mark, after our capital one cup. Sorry but to use those is to be ignorant tothe fact our whole team was off the boil after that win. They lost that 5% edge, our season was over, doesn't mean Michu was ineffective up front, else he would not have been our top scorer, and we wouldn't have gained so many points in those 12 games eh started up front, against teams that finished above us.
I think there is something in what you say . We KNEW , now , that you can pass the ball around extremely well , and if we are not sharp you will make us pay . That may not have always been the case . I think you moved the ball really well and got it to the edges of the box , but there it seemed to break down , you seem to be struggling with the very same problem we had for quite a while . That final incision into the box , quickly , to get a shot away . Its such a fine balance , attack and defence . get it right , it looks easy . get in wrong , you ship 3 points .
Six goals when used almost exclusively up front. Sixteen when used mostly in midfield. Keep ignoring it if you like. It won't be going anywhere. The whole team was off the boil after February? Well yeah. Having no strikers and playing your best man out of position will generally have an adverse effect on a teams form. Have you looked up this years figures with Michu upfront yet?
16 when used exclusively in midfield you say? So the 12 games above where he was used exclusively up front don't count then did they, interesting analysis of yours there.
Spot on flying swan...take no notice of most on here as they are not at the match and dont see the big picture. you saw the fans reaction i saw the fans reaction and it says laudrup messed up YET again....he dont have the bottle against big teams and picks an inferior side so he can make excuses......Bony not fit why include him then and bring him on as sub.....It would be much better to start with your best players than not against a big team and not bring them on when we are playing catch up.....Yes flying swan laudrup did get stick from fans pissed off with his strange way he is managing the club.....he will pick a far stronger side for europe you can bet and start with bony.......unbelievable and 3 points dropped and its laudrups fault ...end of....
you have to be at the match to know the true reaction not watching on the web where you just see football....there are to many commenting about the swans sitting in their armchairs knowing nothing compared to the fans actually there in the thick of things and fans reactions.....watch the match and enjoy but dont comment on something you can't possibly know.....
WUM alert WUM alert Is this the samw line as one of our posters proved you wrong on earlier today ? y'know the one where he actually sits right near Laudrup and heard nothing from the fans ? WUM Alert ......WUM Alert .....WUM Alert
I don't think Michu upfront is ####, but I would much rather us show attacking intent at home and have Bony on the pitch with Michu. I think Bony needs minutes on the pitch to get up to speed, our no1 striker should be fist name on the team sheet especially at home. We needed a physical presence to go for the Gunners back four from the start.
From hero to villian in no time. Honestly I find it quite shocking the amount of critisism Laudrup is receiving considering how far he has taken the team (except from Dai, he hated him since day 1, so he at least is being consistent about it). Did he get it wrong yesterday? Perhaps. But even the best makes mistakes now and then. If Swansea had won with this line-up everyone would have hailed him a genious but it's always easier to tell how the club should be run with 20/20 hindsight. Should he have started with Bony? Probably. That's what I would do. I did critizise him for being too defensive against stronger teams last season. But I think he has adjusted to that. Just look at the Valencia game. After all, as others have stated, giving the "wounded" backline some support from midfield is a valid argument.
Based on starting line ups of the 2012/13 premier league season (seeing as some are saying Michu is not good enough to start up front) Michu up front Played: 18 Goals: 7 Vs top 8: 11/18 (61%) PL Points: 20/54 (37%) Michu in midfield Played: 18 Goals: 11 Vs top 8: 4/18 (22.2%) PL Points: 23/54 (42.6%) I think I know from FACTS that Michu is just fine up front, and was more effective, based on teams played than when starting as the attacking midfielder. I'd love anyone to prove me wrong now....after all, I just sifted through all our league games last season to check starting line ups, scores and all sorts. Michu played MOST of his games up front against teams who finished above us, yet still had a very good return, not wquite as good as the return against LOWER teams, but then that is expected, however points wise, I would say the points gained agianst TOP teams whilst Michu was up FRONT, was a far better return than points gained against BOTTOM clubs, with Michu in midfield. So have yet to see any proof that Michu up front is no good. If anything, the stats here prove we were better with him up front, after all, playing Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Spurs, Everton, West Brom and Liverpool 11 times out of his 18 games (A whopping 61% of the games he played up front) was a pretty damn good return if you ask me And I dare you to attempt to PROVE me wrong. No words, but facts please.......
By the way: I have made 2 predictions on the board so far: Swansea to win vs. Valencia and Swansea vs. Arsenal to end 1-2. I rule!!
There are over 20,000 other people in the Stadium apart from yourself (if you were there) - and if you or other numpties were waving your brollies at Laudrup you need your big arses kicked
No, but Ladbrokes gave you odds 1.000.000:1 on the particle accelerator in CERN to consume the earth once. If they still have it I would get in on that bet.
In fact Dai, I reckon you sit in the house and just watch it on the telly...........
I would not mind if he was injured but he was on the bench and got used when we were up the creek and needed fire power.....that is laudrups crime and its not as if its his first time either.....He deserves all the criticism he gets for this and believe me a lot are giving it....
