Yes deedub, a bit of the old Chelsea luck there and us hitting the woodwork, a goal then would have killed Chelsea. I'm just looking at their set piece again. Spur of the Moment, a big minus is the way we fade in the second half and a major minus like that is greater than a hundred minor plusses.
Bull,Verts was jumping straight up.Torres just launched himself at him, there was intent.plus Torres should have already been off,for that girly clawing of Verts face
"Bull,Verts was jumping straight up.Torres just launched himself at him, there was intent" Verty won the battle of the WUMs. IMHO Torres didn't get the second yellow for the actual incident, but the drip drip all game and the ref just decided he'd had enough. Rugby refs do this a lot too (and they let players know it is coming thru continual dialogue) .
It hit the outside of the post. Chelsea created the better chances and Lloris kept Spurs in it, he has been your best performer this season along with Paulinho.
Cole should have gone down earlier but there was contact, just not inside the box. Different to Townsend's dives which are complete simulation in order to win penalties or get opponents cautioned so they can't out in another challenge. Ramires doesn't dive. Ivanovic does.
That says more about the quality of the league, the fact we are still title favourites. Whoever wins it this year will be a very ordinary side and it's been that way since Chelsea's Double winning side.
I think that someone at the club needs to highlight Chelsea's continuous attempts to influence the match officials today, starting from the first minute. It was like watching Man Utd from previous seasons and I think they got away with quite a lot because of it, especially in the first half. The most glaring examples would probably be Ivanovic indicating that the ref was blind in the 2nd minute and Torres' sarcastic applause, both of which would normally be punished with a yellow. Mourinho's post-match antics have just been more of the same. I don't think that the media's view of it will be helped by the co-commentators chosen by BT. No problem with the rather bland Michael Owen, but Ray Wilkins and "close personal friend of Jose Mourinho" Mark Halsey were both rather pro-Chelsea, for obvious reasons. It was clear that the Chelsea players were all constantly on the backs of the officials over every decision, yet it was ignored. Not good for the game. Rugby rules needed for interactions with officials, I'm afraid.
"That says more about the quality of the league, the fact we are still title favourites." I pay no attention to the fickleness of bookies. "Whoever wins it this year" Will be the team who gets at least 80 points.
The fact that we surrendered the initiative in the 2nd half of one game doesn't represent a major problem - especially when it is against one of the top teams. Yes, we should have reacted better to the introduction of Mata, but sometimes this happens. The fact that we didn't concede the game overall is a plus.
Straight from the Ferguson playbook, RDBD. You can see why the eye-gouger thought he was a shoe-in for the vacancy at Old Trafford. please log in to view this image Must be where Torres got his bitchiness from yesterday. Didn't realise that Fulham's owner was there to see it, though his tache was clearly a work in progress.
Excellent interpretation and analysis of the game and one that I would entirely agree with, except the assessment of Soldado. I too am beginning to worry about the 26 million paid for him....would have given him a 5.
Ignoring all the nastiness for a second, I thought the game was really good. Not a great second half for us and not a great first half for the but you can't say it wasn't entertaining, even if it was torture at the time for the fans. Was it definitely Dawson that was supposed to be marking Terry? That was a real mess if so, he's far too good to be doing that.
But taking into account the nastiness again. How can Mourinho defend Torres? please log in to view this image Well done to Vertonghen for not reacting too much, Torres was clearly doing it so the ref and lino would think it looked innocuous and get Vertonghen to do something stupid in the heat of the moment.
somebody should have been marking him,,but wasn't,that happened to many times last season, and hasn't been sorted out!
Mourinho has been exposed for what he really is, and that is a capable coach but a very flawed human being. Ferguson and Whinger are both bad losers and ungracious, but Mourinho combines this with arrogance and cockiness. This arrogance works well when he is very successful and at the top but when things don't go his way, he is just a bitter, disrespectful and self-obsessed tosser who believes that he is so cool and important that he can get away with saying anything he wants. Personally I can not stand the bloke, no time for him.
