On the football league show they just said that he's the bookies favourite for the job at Derby. I hope that doesn't go through and he stays with us for the rest of the season.
I think McClaren might stay. When and if Harry decides to hang up these........... please log in to view this image He will realise that this is the better job.
Whod have thought a year ago people would be saying they want schteve McLaren to stay with us. My thought was he's going to be our next manager and bringing him in as coach was a way to get the fans onside to the idea.
There you go mate. Football fans are very fickle things. I believe it was our Brix that said '' He reserved the right to be fickle week by week. '' That sums it, and us up perfectly. Last season we were excited by all the new signings. Some weren't. Some were slagging off our new signings this season and have now converted. Nothing wrong in that, none of us are fortune tellers. This isn't a film forum where the evidence is all there to see. This forum is active and emotional and has the ability to change by the hour. It makes for compelling reading and it's okay to change your viewpoint as you see fit.
I'm the exact opposite of fickle, I take the long term view while others are happy as long as we get 3 points. I'm happy were winning and top of the league but still wondering about next summer, change of manager and a **** load of new players. At least keeping McLaren would ensure some continuity.
I can see where your coming from there mate. But from experience we can only exist in the now. The past is the past and the future hasn't happened yet, and may not happen as we expect or dream to. What is happening now is all we have to go on. Tomorrow may bring a different chain of events.
Not just the right answer but the only answer.................. unless of course, he's a fool, who wants to go to a lessor club, to have less fun, without much chance of going to the PL. Even if he made it to the PL with Derby, the chances of the club pouring the amount of funds in that QPR do are highly unlikely. McLaren is the clubs' succession plan for Harry ................. we all know that.
Football should be fickle - it's the detachment from reality that such a preposterous little game deserves. The fact that it's a wonderful game that encapsulates our ability to play it, to long to have been able to do it ourselves and to wish to see the more gifted do it better than we ever could, makes it the draw and spectacle that it is. People can live up to our expectations or let us down almost on a daily basis. The more detached from reality our "superstars" get, the higher the demand for them to perform at their peak. Failure to do so invites the inevitable criticism that you'd expect from humble folk who have been let down. A better performance just recaptures that hope that a player's best is his norm. We don't actually know what Steve McLaren brings but things do seem more stable and the idea of disrupting that is a dim one. Here endeth the drunken ramblings of a man that shouldn't be in charge of a phone. Sorry
I think he will go, that will be a bad blow for us as Harry needs a good coach to help him at his age
I would love to keep hold of Mclaren but now with two jobs available much closer to his home, he still lives in Yorkshire, I think that it is inevitable that we will soon see him leave.
David McIntyre ‏@davidmcintyre76 25m Looks like McClaren may well get the Derby job. Done a great job for #QPR but most important part was in summer. They're off and running now
