Six or seven cheap concessions of possession, often in very dangerous positions. His requests for the ball whilst positioned poorly are irksome too.

but... Some great link up play in the middle of the field, brilliant workrate and energy levels. He even made a few tackles and won some headers today!

The guy seems to be a slow starter at the beginning of each half- then grows into the game.

I think he's improving, and will hopefully be fully up to speed with the pace of the championship soon.
The complete lack of pressure applied by Middlesborough whilst we were on the ball probably aided him a lot though... He was terrible in the face of Yeovil's high tempo harassment.

It'll be interesting to see how this one pans out over the course of the season!

    Thoughts?

(Great result today, lovely to see us play some fluent stuff  )

Spot on, got better as the game went on. but made some silly mistakes and played some sloppy passes - probably nerves early on and inexperience later in the game. But defo improving and he's neat and tidy.

He'll really benefit having Kranjcar to work with. He's certainly covers the ground...

Don't rate him at all and hopefully he will be nailed to the bench when our wingers come back. I wouldn't know who to pick, him or SWP.

Here's a tricky one for you Flyer, Carrol or Henry? Gotta be the latter for me!

Well the myth is busted that its henry that helps us get clean sheets.

Carroll and henry are polar opposite players so I don't think the choice would ever need to be made so that's why I used SWP.

I'll choose to look at it from another angle. For a young player to drop deep to get the ball and continuosly ask for it can only be a good thing, it tells me this lad is going places.

But I appreciate your view being there, something unfortunately I can't be.

I'd say it's unequivocal that Henry helps us get clean sheets! You're right though, he's not solely responsible.
One swallow doesn't make a summer, so no myths are going to be busted off the back of an individual performance. We should've conceded a hatfull V Yeovil without him on the pitch! If ever we switch 442 again Henry is the man for the job imo. Carroll + Kranjcar + Faurlin probably just about collectively contribute as much to the defence as Henry does alone. We won't want 5 CMs on the pitch every game though

That's a fair point Norway. I'd like him to be more selective with where he attempts to receive the ball though- there was one occasion where he dropped back to right in line with (and equidistant between) hill and dunne on the edge of the penalty area, with Borough players bearing down!

Parejo did the same, they might be decent players but they might not be right for us.

I wonder if we will ever play Barton and Faurlin with kranjcar ahead of them. That's my first choice cm.

Henry was quality when he came on. He was the perfect sub for Faurlin to assist Ehmer in protecting the back four. He won everything in front of him and stopped Boro from prom progressing and breeching our defence. He does exactly what it says on the tin.

Carroll will grow. He will be a quality player and a definite crowd pleaser when he finds his sea legs. He's not far from this. This lad has it all, we are lucky to have him.
