I think the same as you on this one mate It was about controlling the ball in this game, which we did to great affect most of the time, I mean Ozil has been a sensation this season and he hardly got a kick all game and was subbed, so tactically its wrong to say Laudrup got it completely wrong I think he got it 80% correct myself
We have to remember we have to keep the squad happy. We cannot have A & B teams. We need to continually rotate and have a competitive team on the pitch for all matches besides I think we would be hard pressed to agree on the best 11, which is a good thing.
why whenever we got a chance of beating a big team laudrup bottles it and don't pick our strongest team....there is no excuse on poor tactics like leaving bony out as he brought him on later.....why make vorm captain? what the hell can he do from there, Schoolboy error if ever there was one.....Michu up front on his own against another big team again....unbelievable!!! My grandmother could have picked a better team and she's been dead for years, I'm so glad some knowledgeable fans gave laudrup what he needed to hear as we are getting a bit fed up of his excuses for his inept management skills at times, He needed to hear the criticism from the fans and we made sure he did hear it too and rightly so.....
Thought we so poor offensively & never gave them any real worries. Ffs this is Arsenal who are renowned to be weak at the back & we did nothing to expose that!! I thought Laudrup is totally to blame for this & to be honest, to a man, everyone I talked to in the ground, outside & back in the boozer thought the same. We pay £12 million for a striker & we have him on the bench, when Michu is frustrated up front with no service. Understand last season when the options are Danny or Luke, but not now...
fick•le (ˈfɪk əl) adj. 1. not constant or loyal in affections. 2. likely to change, esp. due to caprice, irresolution, or instability; casually changeable: fickle weather. [before 1000; Middle English fikel, Old English ficol deceitful]
Dai likes to criticise tactics, but when asked what our best team is, never responds. So Dai, I would like to ask you, what for you, is our best team? as you mention it fairly often, but you never tell us what it is. And I am starting to get intrigued by your superior knowledge to our manager. He could have played Bony, lost 3-0, and you would still be on here criticising him, thats why you don't tell us your best team, because you know it could backfire on you.
Since when did Arsenal have a weak defence ? They had the 2nd best defence in the league last season and are currently around the same mrker this year with a better offence Sometimes we need to remember the gulf in class, we spent a mind boggling £12m quid on a player Arsenal just spent £42m on one ! I thought Laudrup picked the best team to get a result, he almost got it too, are we to go toe to toe with these teams all of a sudden ? I don't think we have gone out and all out attacked any of them since being in the premier league why do we start now ? are we suddenly amazing and top 6 ? I thought we were a mid table side at best and that's including us buying a striker for loads of cash !! Its harsh to have a go at tactics when we don't know the full story, protecting our defence may well have been a bigger priority in this game ,it might have been different if he had Ash and Rangel fit and raring to go ?
Protecting our defence because we didn't have Rangel or Williams!! Class teams have torn Williams apart many times & half-decent wingers have been doing the same to Rangel since we were in the Championship!! We should've taken the game to them more... Flamini has helped Arsenals' defensive case immensely this season since returning, but also their offensive game has been on the money. Ramsey has been a revelation alone. Throw in Ozil, Walcott & the improved Giroud & they've been devastating on an attacking front. I still think, as has been proved many times over the last few seasons, defensively they're weak!!
Last seasons table showed that away from home Arsenal had the best defence in the League - and by some margin as well. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/premier-league/2012-2013
Well as you produced the website!! Try going back 3 or 4 seasons.... Hence why they haven't won the title...
I would have thought 38 games last season, together with the first five this season would show they have built a reasonable defence, since they had beatings like the 8-2 Man U defeat.
Unlucky tonight mate, thought you were brilliant up until the lapse of concentration let the Gunners to take control in the 2nd half but in the latter stages you were right back in it, a draw would have been fair imo. As for your reply to WSaf, spot on.
They've only played 1 team (Spurs) of the top 4 or 5 & they were torn apart by Villa. Also for better refereeing & a bit of luck, Sunderland would have given them a different outcome. You hit Mertesacker & Kosceilny with a bit of pace & movement & they're in trouble. I like Arsenal & want them to win the title. But their defence has been a big reason why they seriously haven't competed for the title of late... We just didn't trouble them...
try going back 4 seasons ? is this for real ? I thought we were playing TODAY , not 4 seasons ago . But hey , yeah , get rid of your best manager ever , its not like you havent been in Europe before right ? one of your fellow swans said it ..fickle ...you want the moon on a stick ..and you want it now .
Because even if Laudrup thought we had a clear best starting 11 they could not possibly play all of our games. We do not need another group of 11 knowing they are not first choice. I would compare it to the management of mid week team on a lions tour
So you haven't had any defensive issues over the last 3 or 4 years Gunner?? That's what my point was to PGF!! Over a lengthy period it hasn't been your strongest factor. Even the most ardent Gooner would admit that...
Not making excuses, when the Swans knocked us out of last seasons League Cup we'd played 3 games in 5 days(including the game against the Swans)and one of those games was in the EL in the far fetches of Russia. We just never had the strength in depth in our squad to cope with the 3 domestic comps plus the EL, winning the League Cup can be as much a curse as an honour due to most of the qualifiers being from far eastern European nations, a blessing in disguise to get knocked out early maybe and concentrate on the League?
