The usual nonsense, and I've now had enough of Mr O'Driscoll Nearly half a season without a win Still talking nonsense We are going nowhere but down Enough
Sadly I am coming to this way of thinking also His run of results has been the worst of any City manager in the last 5 years (and as you can imagine, thats in the face of some pretty stern competition). I did think O'D was going to turn it all around, but this has the look of 1983 all over again. I dont think O'Driscol will halt the slide, and I dont know what will. Somebody up there doesn't like us
I faced a sad stat today. Since my 20th birthday on the 10th of October last year, City have only won 8 league games...... If the don't beat port vale, In 1 whole year city have won just 8 league games
One part of me would be happy to see SOD leave if we could get someone like Nigel Clough in to replace The other part tries to think back to the 05/06 season in league One when GJ joined and he lost 8 games in a row. The following season we got promoted
Dwelling on the past will get us nowhere and Prem is constantly berating me for digging up our history as an excuse for our current woes. What has happened in the past can never cure our present malaise and my biggest concern is for the long term future of BCFC, and unless someone, anyone, is capable of turning our ship around soon we will be going to the bottom and possibly even further down. A lot of detractors on this site are concerned that we just can't get anything right when it comes to the well being of our team and yet again I will refer to our past because it really does highlight our long standing inability to get even close to the right mix of manager and players to satisfy the needs of the vast majority of our supporters. Why is it that after the heady days of the Wembley play-off final our downward trend is well documented and still nobody was able to fix the leaks and keep us afloat until such time as the core of a competitive squad could be assembled to handle the rigours of Championship survival and ultimately consolidation. The nature of the business in today's footballing world is that you fail at your own peril and yet another manager bit the dust today, much as SOD did when he was fired from Forest when they were apparently doing well. Nobody has ever said that the life of a footballing manager is easy and I'm sure SOD has that mantra rolling around his brain after what was another "should have" day in the record books. The reality is that despite all efforts we are not performing well and all the people who claim we are improving every week should take a real look at our record under the current leader and they will see clearly that he just isn't getting the job done as was described in the job vacancy column. He doesn't want or need our sympathy because he really wants the club to improve like the rest of us, but until the league table shows Bristol City climbing back up the ladder he knows his job is under threat. If we don't improve over the next month or so and the management refuses to act then a lot of us will just give up and wonder what is really happening at Ashton Gate. I would much prefer that the top brass at Bristol City are not forced in to action on the managerial front because we have travelled down that back road before and look where it has taken us and it's not the place we wanted to go- is it?
P.S. Get well hawk. I have now arrived in my new home town but it got off to a very bad start because I killed BAMBI when my car hit the poor thing on our first evening in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island.
