I like the manager, I think he could be great for us with the right money available. Managers are always going to take the odd gamble on a player, sometimes it will pay off other times you will be left with dead wood. Warnocks gambles were diabolical, each and every one of them.. BMD - I can see why he signed Smith as age is on his side, Murphy as well and Wootton and I do believe Wootton and Murphy will become good players for us but Hunt and the wage Hunt must be on leaves me scratching my head as to why he signed him.
If you like supporting clubs with no ambition and comedy managers then why don't you support another club and let proper Leeds fans demand better.
Likely because he's a good influence in the dressing room and brings the best out of other players. I imagine at his best he probably brings something to the table on the field as well. Keep in mind he played a big part in the Reading team that made the playoffs and then got promoted. I doubt it's a coincidence. If he's that bad then it'd be essentially getting promoted after playing a full season with 10 men.
Yeah I think Wooton will be great for us. He was certainly better than Pearce out there today from what I could see. I do agree on Hunt though I understand that managers go for "experience" signings sometimes, but he isn't getting played - and there has to be a reason for that.
GFH are going to look to make a profit on us before cashing in, they are an investment bank. If they do not make that profit on the pitch and we struggle down the bottom half of the table watch them sell the last of the young talent that we have. Shareholders and investors will always come first.
Probably keep him out of the spotlight for a little while to take the pressure off. Like I said, Hunt probably brings the best out of other players. Despite failing to score our team is still playing better than they were, our mediocre players are playing better. Psychology plays such a massive part in sport and having positive influences around the dressing room is so important. Having ****s who've given up on their careers and can't be arsed because they are sulking that they didn't make it in the Premier League like Steve Morison because they are "good on paper" is so bad for squad morale and probably as big a reason we played so badly towards the end of last season as losing Becchio was.
It is, we know that. Varney walks into the first team. He's playing better this season but is still not good enough. He's also 31 and not going to get any better. I said before that bates and colins legacies would hold us back for a long time and this is what we are seeing. A squad full of also rans playing at their best and all the clubs money tied up and unable to bring in better. Just imagine what we could have done with the extra £3.5 million that went on the season ticket mortgage... that's a big sum.
Wait until the financial results are released, I have little doubt that we could have spent more than that this season but like I said before, Investors of GFH will come first. We will make a healthy profit this season and it will line those investors pockets.
Listening to the game on the radio suggested that we were terrible, but that the 'Wall were just less bad. Didnt sound a great game. Suddenly means the Bournemouth game, even at this stage of the season becomes a must win. My concern surrounds BMD. Will he have the nouse to work out why we were so bad today, or are we going to struggle on Tuesday as well? Thoughts???
Clive, you seem to have all the answers. A challenge for you - you've just replaced BM and have no money to invest, plus a right old load of deadwood that refuse to go out on loan. What are you going to do to make us perform better? (Apart from moan like fcuk & blame anyone & everyone?). Take up this challenge in no more than 1500 words in your best handwriting (assuming you can write).
After the first few games I said I felt we were fortunate and that we were batting above our station. I hoped I was wrong, for me nothing has changed, we have the same problem as we had the first game of the season, the squad isn't good enough. We were probably lucky that we played a couple of the so called fancied teams at the start of the season when they were cold.
The worst player on the pitch was Tonge today Should never play for Leeds United again - utter garbage
F.A.O the Moderator, can you please make this thread a 'sticky'. I have derived so much pleasure from reading about the exceptional pool of talent that you have at Elland Road, and would be most grateful if you could make it readily accessible for all my 'Wally' mates................ btw....has anybody seen Olof or Chesh ??? they seem to have gone missing........... just like your defence and midfield and forward line "Marching on together...................................."
Mighty, you are indeed mistaken............. 4-0 was indeed a correct forecast 4 losses on the spin NIL hope for the Weeds btw.....do you think that they will avoid the drop ?????????????
McAllister won at Millwall, Warnock won at Millwall, Grayson couldn't win there and now McDermott has lost there.
