Huddlestone and Livermore beat the Spammers. Allardyce is struggling without a big front man, but they had a load of penalty claims, apparently. Shame! <laugh>

Just proves what I've said all along (cover your eyes Notso and YV ;)), any old side can win the PL these days. There are no special teams anymore just lots and lots of decent ones then a few poor ones. League has definitely got w**ker <ok>

Allardyce trait, he starts off quite badly and then gets worse. We'll be saying goodbye to him this season and thank phuck for that.

Can't see it. West Ham won't take risks with the OS in site. They need PL football and whilst Allardyce doesn't offer expansive football in the kind of "West Ham way", he does get results and more or less guarantee survival.

Or the weaker teams are all far superior to some of the ****e from the past and the better teams lose points against them, despite largely having enormous squads of talented players.
Don't you get tired of beating this drum, DL? It's as worn out as Moyes' welcome at Old Trafford.

Okay District but they want results not just survival.

Interesting day today what with City losing away again to a lower club and not showing title winning form. All we need to do is to get Bobby Soldado scoring and I'll fear nobody. We can match anybody and I agree with a post of yours District that the league has weakened somewhat even though we are top. It's better for us that AVB is doing this in his second season proving that he's not a one season wonder. Last week I thought it would be a two horse race between us and City for the title but now I'm not so sure.

  8. Well, as I said before, we are top of the league, where we deserve to be. Only Gooners can go ahead of us on points - Mousers can go ahead on goal difference, if they can manage to regain some bottle.

  9. Oh, and what did I say about Moyes being one of the favourites for the next sacking?

He and Jol are probably neck-and-neck, at the moment.

You weren't the only one to say it though. I blinked when Moyes was appointed the job, a bit of Scottish favouritism I think.

  11. But few people are saying that he'll be the next to get sacked. In fact, most people are poo-poohing the idea.

If those below Utd win tomorrow and go above them then he'll be sacked.

Moyes won't be sacked yet. He'll be given a fair bit of time to try and turn it round.

Utd lost to a team which hasn't beaten them at Trafford since 1978, that's BAD NEWS for them.

To sack Moyes before the new year is a massive knee-jerk response.
Especially if you are believe that his appointment was due to a measured and well-considered
process (one that rejected Jose etc) .

Moyes won't be sacked this year or even next year IMO, even though I suspect that Utd won't be successful in a convincing way for a number of years under Moyes until he really sorts himself out and settles. I think the board understand that things won't be Fergie-like immediately and not only recognise that they will reap the rewards if they let Moyes take his time and he succeeds, I also think that the club don't want to become a Chelsea (or at least seen as one), hiring and firing managers due to short-term success or failure, I think Utd value the image they had with Fergie as being a traditional club that stuck with its man, and they want that to continue.

That said Moyes is going to be under an awful lot of pressure from my generation of United fans who have never known anything but success and Ferguson, and if Moyes comes 3rd or 4th for a couple of years and doesn't win cups then there will of course be rumblings. If Liverpool's mini-revival becomes a full-scale renaissance for them as well it could be painful for United fans seeing their team slip a bit and one of their biggest rivals go the other way. The media doesn't help either obviously because no matter how much they report that there is no pressure and that Moyes will get as much time as he needs, those are empty words from them as all they want is to smell blood and jump on a big failure story.

This season is going to be fascinating for so many reasons, so much change across the league. I live with two pretty level-headed United fans and although they are pretty sanguine about Moyes I still await their reactions if United come outside the top 2 and don't win or come close to winning a trophy. God knows what their reactions would be if United don't get top 4, but I think they're surely safe in that regard...

It's six games into the season. It's a disappointing start, but Moyes hasn't either succeeded or failed yet.

The only difference between City on 10 pts and Utd on 7pts is the result between the two teams yet Pellegrini is being hailed as a top class manager who is an improvement on his predecessor (who won the PL).

Luke, you're overlooking the scores against the quality of the opposition.

Moyes has a much harder task, much harder. Fergie was responsible for making you contenders In recent years, put any other manager in charge and the weak points within your squad would have been more apparent so Moyes is going to need that word that we tend to forget ..'time' . Maybe he will be out of his depth yet Utd as a club cant sack managers for fun like Chelsea, and instead will give Moyes every chance to prove himself.
