1-1 FT. Meh. Good first half, crap second half. Badly missed Rose and lost all composure in the middle when Mata came on and Paulinho tired. Chadli sub was wrong (Lamela?) and we're still very much a work in progress, even if we are top of the league, at least temporarily. Mon the Swans!
Fair result. A game of 2 halves. We deserved to win the first, Chelsea deserved the second. Surprised not to see sandro today, or Lamela for that matter. Chadli is yet to make any impact, sadly. Thought Lloris had a great game and was probably our best player.
Happy with a point but once again the game was spoilt by a wrong sending off. You really can't moan about any other club with some of the antics your players got up to. Shocking. Draw at your opponents and win your home games is what you need to do and we've got 3 tough away games out the way now. Hope Jose now realizes you can play Oscar and Mata together.
the chadli for townsend sub is the worst I've seen since harry brought parker on against villa at the end of the 2011-12 season.
Wonder if Torres will get two reds for one game? Dean clearly booked him for the trip, as he even made the motion when he was talking to him. please log in to view this image
what antics? Ok, Townsend dived and got booked. but what else? The sending off was deserved. just too bloody late. That's rich, considering Torres tried to rip vertonghens face off!
We should have had you there. Vertongen is a cheating ****. Holding his head and rolling around like he'd been shot to get Torres sent off. Townsend diving... I'm happy with a point but could have been more
No mention of the fact that Torres should already have been off or Ramires' obvious dive in the first half then, Bucks? Can't say that I'm surprised. Vertonghen was fouled. He went down appropriately. Torres also went down and rolled about, despite being the one committing the foul.
What concerns me a little is Soldado's lack of goals or even goal chances. He doesn't seem to be developing many chances for himself. Assists is one thing but he was brought in to score goals, not just create them. Defoe had a better, clearer goal scoring chance with only ten minutes on the pitch to play with!
Yeah Torres punched Vertongen square in the face and Ramres gets a 10 for his dive then... Torres went down but he was back up. It was never a foul in the first place. Ridiculous decision. And Vertongen rolling about makes Mike Dean believe Vertongen has been smacked in the face. He wasn't at all
We got on the back foot and stayed there till Chelsea scored. We still can't stand prosperity. You could see it in the near misses, I thought. If it hadn't been such a big moment, Gylfi would have put it in. Funny how just about everyone I remember predicted exactly this result. I'd love it if we tried to look at the way we just kept clearing back to Chelsea when there was enough time to pass it to a teammate or dribble, and how we missed opportunities to kick it around and regain our composure. Those two things may be the biggest causes of bad results for us. On the bright side...we're in first! (for a couple of hours, or minutes, depending on how you count it...)
First off, well done Spurs, I don't know if this is the latest in the season we've been top of the Premier league, but regardless, it's a hell of an effort - all credit to the club I predicted a draw, and I think a draw was fair, we got lucky Mata didn't start. Torres should have gone earlier, then we probably win. How can Chadli play instead of Lamela? Holtby must start soon in the Prem, surely. JD too. Anyway. congrats to Spurs for a great start to the season, including the cups.
Clearly you have no sense of humour How can you say Torres fouled Vertonghen? He never touched his head! I just said it to my Spurs mate... He replied 'You cheat to win'... Sums it up really. Never a red
Why did Torres have to touch Vertonghen's head to foul him? He jumped into him at pace and didn't win the ball. That's a foul. It wasn't a red, but raking his face earlier was. Did you miss that? I see the usual Chelsea myopia has returned with the dramatically less special one. Claims of Dean favouring Spurs in this game are laughable, frankly.
why even take townsend off ? he was our most dangerous player. not only did it limit the players we could bring on who might be of some use, but it actually weakened the team (quite significantly). it was an inexplicable decision. it must have been pressure, and was reminiscent of when he used to always bring a defender on towards the end of games at the start of last season.
