Although England are on schedule to qualify for 2014 WC, if we didn't would the FA consider dumping Hodgson ?

And if so who are the candidates to replace him (I think you all know where this is heading)

Bruce is currently the highest-placed English manager in the PL although we all know that can soon change.

The only other English managers in the PL are Pardew, Allardyce and Holloway.

If the FA do pursue the 'English' manager policy then Bruce must be an option.

Of course, timing in football is very important and IF Hodgson did resign/get sacked come November and our form continued
then the Allam's may get a knock on the door.....

The England squad is average / poor. If Hodgson gets us to the finals he will have done well.

Hoddle is the only option for me. I wanted him after Capello left too.

**** Bruce going for the England job, we want him here. Same with the other options, they are crap to be frank.

    Kind of agree with you.

    But…

I’d say that England’s team/squad is slightly better than average so qualification is still reasonably expected (especially in a group of average sides) but definitely not certain.

Due to the way England’s players are subject to hyperbole, qualification will always be viewed as merely perfunctory.

I think England’s FIFA ranking is about right (think we’re about 15th)

It's bullshit. Greece and USA are better than England according to those rankings. We should be between 9th and 12th.

Colombia are 5th ffs. They are no way better than the 5 of the 6 teams just behind them (Belgium, Brazil, Netherlands, Croatia, Portugal). Being 2nd in South American qualifying means bugger all when Brazil aren't in it.

Steve Bruce would make an excellent England manager, but only after his work here is done.

The natural progression for Steve Bruce is Newcastle followed by Manchester United. He may not want the poisoned chalice that is the England job.

Naturally, give or take a place, I still think 15th is about right.

We are better than Greece though (I think).

Colombia are pretty smart these days and I think they would beat us over two legs, as would the other teams you mention (perhaps bar Croatia).

The fact you are questioning us against Greece is concerning. They are poor. Their qualifying group is poor also, which is why they are up there.

Colombia are a good side, but no way better than most of those just behind them.

Well yes, because Greece are ****ing awful in comparison. If people think England can't beat them, there's something wrong.

Not sure why you are chortling. That seems pretty immature.

Yep I know they're crap which is why Bruce will be a candidate.

It's a worry that we have no English managers currently in the game that are stand-out candidates.

If we look further and into the Championship then we're onto the realm of Pearson, Ince, McDermott etc (discounting 'Arry cos of his dubious yet exonerated past).

We have a complete lack of successors to Hogdson.

Re Hoddle but I'm not sure the FA would consider it.

If you don't find this seeming decay of the England national team concerning, then you clearly don't give a ****.

I don't find laughter immature at all. You just put it in a ****ing ****ty context.

It is very concerning that there are only 4 Englishmen in the Prem, and that two of them are Pardew and Holloway...

There are no truly great English manager. There hasn't been one since Bobby Robson.

Hodgson is not progressive enough with team selection and the players, I am sick of seeing the likes of Milner turn up every match to get their one cross in and run about a lot. At least even he's seen the light with Cleverley. I don't agree we don't have players, they are out there if he looks instead of going with the failed Lampard/Gerrard combo that has never worked and never will. If Barry comes back into the squad I'm giving up all hope.

I agree, players like lennon, Barkley, Huddlestone, Davies, oxlade-chamberlin, sturridge etc should be ahead of milner, walcott, young, gerrard, lampard etc.
