So we have some people on here saying we are The Tigers at the same time as we are Hull City AFC and we should be able to market as The Tigers abroad but keep the name Hull City AFC - sorry if that is not accurate quotation but is more the jist of the argument. So do we really think that Mr Ashley would market his club abroad as The Geordies, or Mr Coates as The Potters (Stoke Potters does have a ring to it) - erm no, you have the market the club on the actual name that it is called. Brands have been rebranded in the past, look at Marathon and Opal Fruits.

Incidentally has anyone actually written to Papa expressing their concerns and opposition to the name change and got a reply?

Our badge says we are both Hull City AFC and The Tigers.

We have Tiger Travel and Tiger Leisure not Hull City AFC Travel or Hull City AFC Leisure.

So where's the problem with using The Tigers in Asia if Assem Allam thinks it will get more shirt sales/investment.

Rather than talk about Newcastle United or Stoke City lets talk about a top 6 club. What name do you think Tottenham Hotspur FC market themselves as abroad?

We are not a brand we are a football club.

Both Marathan and Opal Fruits eventually reverted to their original names. Why don't we cut out the middle bit and not have Hull Tigers at all.

Are you really comparing the rebranding of our city's football team with what happened to a chocolate bar?

the point about the chocolate bar was it was still a chocolate bar with whatever in it, it didn't stop being the same chocolate bar just because Mars rebranded it and even though you had some people whinging on about it they still brought it after the rebrand. and now we are used to snickers bars just like in 10 years time we will all be used to Hull Tigers - I seriously can't imagine that Papa and his advisers do not have a strong business case to put before the PL when the time for changing the name happens. And to those saying fan consultation not having taken place - precedence shows that fans are never thought about by the PL, Football League or FA, as MK Dons, Coventry, ticket pricing, the timing of this year's FA Cup final, Monday evening and sunday football just to suit Murdoch are just some of the numerous examples where fans don't count

They didn't rebrand it. They just reverted to its original name. Mars just called it Marathon in the UK to increase sales in the US it retained its real name Snickers. A bit like us remaining Hull City in this country and being known as The Tigers in China.

I'm sure Assem Allam will hand a piece of paper to the Premier League. The campaign will try and show that the majority of fans haven't been consulted. We'll know how successful that is in April, not October.

Mostyn has a very good point that the premier league almost certainly will not give a ****.

I would not put any confidence in them what so ever.

What you need to do is just encourage people to get on side and join in, with numbers you can cause Allam problems he has to solve and give him things to think about without fans having to go out of their way to achieve it.

Egypts protests in that square (tahrir or something?) should be emulated and if the name change looks like going ahead city fans should just camp on the pitch behind a barricade and refuse to budge. That could be a laugh.

I think that this has been my stance on this from the start. It makes no sense to change .

Why don't people just support the majority ? You might be pro name change, you might not care less. But you are Hull city fans, and to me the supporters of Hull city,or any other club, are the very definition of what we support.

Here comes a cliche, but cliches only become cliches, because they're true...players,managers,chairmen,and owners of clubs, will come and go,but fans will be fans until death, and who knows, maybe after then(well apart from the plastics:smiley:).

Iv'e done this in the work place,iv'e been for and against proposals, but i will always go with the majority. That's not because i'm left or right,it's because i "know" it's fair and just.

I personally find it very hard,no gut wrenching,to oppose Assem Allam on anything. He saved our club, and funded another promotion to the highest level.

But the majority of Hull city fans, want to remain,HULL CITY A.F.C. The only true way to support the club,is to get behind the majority.

    Anyway,if you don't agree with me....your wrong <laugh>

I am pleased that there is now a group formed. I have a few reservations on the selection process, but at the same time I understand that is the nature of the beast.
I hope it develops and gains popular support.

CEOs constantly move from one sector to another...in most cases very successfully. His on-going success is not luck, he is clearly doing some right however his challenge to date is his lack of empathy and understanding in relating a generic business product/service to that of one more personal to its stakeholders. His aim seems to be to try and 'create' the brand abroad, which we do not appreciate as, as far as we are concerned our club is exactly that - our club, and the one we will support as long as we live, primarily due to where we live or family. To drive sales further afield he has to create 'the brand' The $64000 question is the strategy implemented and whether you piss of the fans or work with them. Autocracies are very rarely successful !

I would say 'not really' doesn't cover it at all; there is certainly a clear intent to push the onus over to the naysayers to qualify their position - it is my opinion that everyone has that responsibility. Hey-ho, it's just an opinion.

You're entitled to your opinion, but not your own facts. Nowhere does the quote you highlighted force anyone into anything, it simply clarifies the position from the post it was replying to. That's even clearer when it's viewed in context.

Why you try to apply meanings to words and quotes that simply aren't there is probably only known by you. Boring and pointless though. <ok>

Anyway, back to the point of the thread, good to see Lambo's actively involved. Looks like a good bunch on that team and it offers promise for the future.
