Morning, pinstickers. To quote old Sir Brucie, âItâs nice to see you to see you...NICEâ. Lovely card at old Newmarket this afternoon and the highlight for me is in the card commencer with RADIATOR (1.40) stepping up to Group company. My regular readers all know that Iâve been raving about her since July (when Sir Michael made the highly unusual step of entering the unraced filly in a Listed heat at the 5 day stage) and think she can oblige in Pattern Company today. Is Even money but given her potential and the fact that sheâs opposed by not the greatest set of fillies ever to enter the old stalls think this more than reasonable. In the next MAUREEN (2.10) is a huge price at 7/1. She carries a penalty for her âFred Darlingâ success earlier in the term but some of her performances arenât that far off the highest level and she proved in the Guineas, when beaten just 2 lengths, that she can handle todayâs underfoot conditions. IHTIMAL (3.15) has been good to me in her past couple of runs and I wouldnât want to desert her in the âFillies Mileâ which looks a match between her and Rizeena. Given that the latter has yet to race over 8 furlongs I think 9/4 more than a fair price for the Godolphin youngster. Finally, I think GATEWOOD (4.25) should be shorter than 11/8 in the 12 furlong Listed affair (4.25) given his strong form from last season and his respectable comeback effort a fortnight ago. Expect old boy Gosden to have him âcherry ripeâ for this encounter after that prep run. Good luck all.
RobinsFarmRacing ‏@RobinsFarmRacin 5h Lightning Thunder to be asked big question today @NewmarketRace Oh So Sharp Gr3. Couldn't sleep, think she's the real deal @HarryBentley_
Third Dimension 6/1 6.50 Dundalk - has contested two hot races to date and has had his excuses, much better is expected tonight with more favourable surface and experience. Goodluck to everyone.
Soft Falling Rain didn't win at Newbury lto, but he did enough to prove he's not one of those Dubai Carnival horses who can't reproduce his Meydan form in the UK in summer. Mike de Kock thinks he'll come on from that run, when he was penalised, and if he does he should be hard to beat here.
