Reason enough to vote no if this balloon supports yes.

I read an article recently where a guy claiming to be an expert on international finance laws or some **** poited out that in every previous case where a country(read as scotland) split from another and one country countinued(read rUK) as the successor state the separatist has never had any liability for the debt, all debt is saddled upon the successor. i will try and find it.

We will take our share of the debt . That is only fair .

To do otherwise would make us as bad as the Englanders .

    Reading some of the comments of the yes supporters, should independence be gained the following is clear;

The national debt of Scotland will no longer exist as it will remain in the UK
The economy will be boosted massively by the fair ownership of North Sea oil and gas reserves
Unemployment will reduce on a huge scale possibly becoming zero unemployment
Public spending will go through the roof but will not incur a national debt due to revenue from natural resources
Standard of living will go up to eventually surpass the wealthiest European nations
The streets will be paved in gold
    The sun will always shine

With this in mind Ahm gonnae turn back to being McGas and get back tae ma Scottish roots. :)

+ they're getting rid of ER.

I don't think there's any downside to it...

We should put a huge export tax on Buckfast to make up for the lost revenue in oil money <ok>

Hmmm - more or less everyone else seems to be able to debate this reasonably and along comes someone slagging off the English. There's always got to be one i suppose <doh>

Personally I'd prefer the Union to remain intact as i think we're stronger as a unit but obviously many on here disagree and I concede it's probably easier to think the way i do when you're living in what is seen as the dominant entity. It's going to be extremely close I suspect. My major concern is the complacency of the no camp - I very much doubt there are any plans in place down here to deal with Scotland leaving because there's going to be some amount of stuff to sort out should it happen. <yikes> I suspect they think the sepaartion talks will be a breeze as they're banking on a scottish application for EU membership and can threaten to veto it if they don't get their way. I do hope that's not all they've got............

If this forum is a measure of how the vote will go it looks like 90% yes. The polls seem to indicate around 30% yes. Why does Not606 attract so many nationalists?

If you pass the sooper dooper new citizen test we might let you stay . I fear you will fail miserably when it comes to the manly kilt wearing section though . A runt like yourself will struggle .

Plus you get docked fifty points for being an Englander .

    One interesting fact.

If Scotland was independant at the time of the last election, and you remove the Scotland seats from Westminster, The Conservatives would be in government with a majority of 15, with 303 of the 591 seats
