Have to say that you guys look a whole lot better this season than you have for the last decade. It's funny how everyone was saying Moyes was doing a great job when it's becoming pretty clear that he holding you back both football and results wise. Hope you finish above the red ****e again.

A bit too early to be saying that imo, but the signs are quite good.

Moyes had us playing some great football last season, so Martinez has taken over a good squad with some real quality in it. He's done OK in this first window (thanks for Lukaku <ok>) but it remains to be seen how we'll develop during the season. All things being equal there's no way we should be finishing ahead of the RS for the 3rd year running, but we'll see.

    You won't! <doh>

Hope you remember though that I said Martinez was good manager when you doubted him. I still think fourth place is wide open between four clubs, optimistically, but probably between Spurs and arsenal. The two Manchesters and Chelsea will fight it out for top spot, but I truly don't think it'll all settle down until the end of October. Could be the most open league for years, and I can't see any side having it won by February again.

I do wonder if Spurs might not edge into that top three though. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

I'm still not totally convinced by him mate, we'll see just how good he is when we hit a bad patch, as Moyes was very adept at turning round those sorts of situations. Martinez record would suggest that he takes much longer to do so, so we'll see.

I agree that the League is very open this season & Spurs are definitely in with a shout of top 3 & maybe even winning the thing! As they've brought in quality in depth during the summer & despite wholesale change have started the season brilliantly in terms of results, without even getting into their stride yet, so they could prove to be a real dark horse imo.

Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea are the top three at the moment. I can't see them being too far away at the end of the season.

Does Howard Kendall still do a write up in your Evening Sports paper?

  6. I love how we all see the league is very open but come about April we'll all be saying its boring and a two team race <laugh> (or something similar)

The problem Martinez will have is replacing Lukaku at the end of the season, no matter how good a season Everton have next season will depend on replacing Lukaku with a striker that can replicate his goals.

That's a problem for next summer mate, for now we're just going to enjoy watching the lad. Who knows what could happen between now & then anyway. Maureen might buy Rooney & AN other striker next summer & Lukaku might fancy the idea of staying on....

Can't see us selling him to be honest but if we do, he'll probably go for £25m+.

I doubt you'd be keen to part with him mate & I'm sure he'd be worth every penny of £25m. I just hope we don't end up swapping Barkley for him.....

If I was as thick as the OP I would of checked the PL table for the same period last season.

I then wouldnt have made this thread.

However, theres no doubting Martinez' ability and Evertons quality both under Moyes and now under Martinez.
