http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2372903,00.html Its official Danny has gone. However, just over 3 million after all the deductions is better than a kick in the crotch.
I put this in the Club Shorts before I saw this thred which is more apt for the comment. Anyone but going to Judas, even Colin would have been preferable. On the other hand we knew he would go and good luck for Danny in the Premier League, now go and get that England shirt.
So, in the cold light of day, it's roughly £3m with 15% of any profit Swansea make on resale. Unlike with the Buckley transfer, where it's tricky to say which of us or Brighton got the better end of the deal, it's clear that in this instance Swansea are the ones laughing. I think they can put that one down as a bargain.
Swansea fan in peace. thanks guys for Mr Graham. I hope he is as good as all of you seem to think he is. I must say have been impressed when i have seen him.
I hope he makes a big impact on the premiership and can get 10+ goals, and in the same time Swansea drop back down and newcastle pick him up next season for a huge fee. As Swansea get relegated, brendan rodgers gets fired
No I want him to injure all swanseas stars like sinclair and then comes to watford on loan in januaryn
I guess you could look at it this way: in 12 months he could have left for free - £3.5m to buy out any non-Premiership players' contract with that amount of time to run could be seen as good business for us. Suppose it depends on whether your glass is half-full or half-empty... In a way im just glad that the deal has been done early - would it have been worth hanging on for another month or two, just for another £500k added to the fee (of which 15% goes to Carlisle)?
Now that is a senario i like!!! Add on that Judas ends up in management obscurity and we get promoted and MM goes on to wonderfull things!!!! Or look at it this way, he went for double what the first offer was and how often does this happen??
Have any of you considered therapy for your fixation on BR? He left for what he thought was a better job with his old club - let it go - it will eat your insides out
One way of losing weight ....the Brendan Rodgers Integrity diet only recommended if your a Watford or reading fan , please consult a doctor before use
Damn, I was still hoping he would refuse the deal! Ah well, good luck Danny. A true professional, and a great role-model. I keep thinking though that £3.5m is a fair price. Being hugely biased towards Watford FC and any player who does vaguely well for the club, we are always going to bump up our estimation of him. But, he has only had 1 successful season at the second tier*. He is unproven at Premier League level, but has the perfect environment in Swansea to give the top flight a shot. *I don't actually agree with my own statement of having 1 good season. He has been fantastic from the day he pulled on that Watford shirt. He has only really attracted the attention since doing so well this season.
Ha, I thought I should put that last statement in, just in case Danny reads these forums! He is definitely one of the stand-out players of the past decade. Writing is going well thanks Norway, I'm really enjoying it. Still learning the ropes a bit, but I'm not fair off getting really stuck in!
Thanks for Danny Boy I hope he makes his mark for us in the league, and hope the money helps you kick on, I think £3.5m in cash not in installments with a 15% sell on clause is a good deal for your club, really most deals are done on the never never, and you will get the payments on condition the club doesn't go bust or relegated or some other crap, we pay up front for all our players because that is the philosophy of our chairman.
I think I speak for all watford fans when I wish danny luck in the future, and in two seasons time I'm sure he will get a fantastic reception from the fans at vicarage road
I really hope he has a good season. A bright spark in a Swansea team (in my opinion) doomed for relegation. I wish him all the best and although I don't particularly like Brendan Rodgers, I'm looking forward to seeing Danny more on TV next season And also, the England cap
Good luck to Danny Graham and Swansea in the premiership. One does not really need that as he will be a success anyway but the other will.
