lambert will bang in a couple against palace and then everyone will shut up about this lambert selling nonsense
But many people's opinions are written as if they have infinite insider knowledge and the ability of ESP. Many of the same people 'shrug' off any differing opinions with a tone implying that poster of other opinion is a fool. No one has said 'I think' or 'In my eyes' before their statements. There have just been several statements where fact is being implied of: 'Rickie is not performing' or 'Rickie is off form'. These are statements made as if they are fact. It should be 'I think Rickie is underperforming' or 'Even though I do not know what Pochettino has or will ask Rickie do to in a game I think that he is off form'. My opinion is that of the whole team Rickie has an ability to score goals, create goals and for want of hearing more 'opinion' is better at doing the role that Ramirez was bought for than Ramirez himself. We didn't buy a replacement for Ramirez in the summer so my opinion is that Adam, Rickie and Jay Rod have had their roles tweaked since the back end of last season to try and fill this void. Rickie is doing a lot more of the play around the edge of the box than last season and the attack is much much more fluid than last season. Many people on hear warble on about a fluid attack yet seem to have opinions based around a very fixed role specific setup where AMC does X, Left and right forward to Y and Forward scores goals. That isn't fluid but I agree with the opinion. On this fixed attack scenario then if Rickie is the Forward then he is not performing because he isn't scoring goals. but is Rickie the forward or the AMC? Is Osvaldo the striker? Are we playing 4-4-2 because we have 2 forwards? If we don't score from open play in the next few weeks then I would question the tactics and/or the team as a whole. The supply isn't there at the moment so it is quite understandable that Rickie isn't scoring.
Do people really need to state that everything they say is opinion on every post? It's a forum - it's got opinions in it, I'm not overly sure it always needs pointing out. Do you go down the pub or the match and always say "in my opinion" or the like when you make a comment?
Well quite..! There are pretty clear areas where inserting... in my opinion, is a worthwhile addition, especially if some quoted facts are in a post, but really, most of our stuff is opinion. Even the quotes are someone else's opinion, most of the time. In my opinion, of course.
Not sure why a Goal article has been given this much traction, have we learnt nothing from the transfer season?
I can't see Rickie leaving for want of regular starts. As stated he has hero status here. I think if Osvaldo starts performing then he may play a smaller part but he is still going to be a key player for us this season.
The main criticism of Rodriguez that I've seen on here has been his poor finishing. I seriously doubt Pochettino has instructed Rodriguez to hit shots wide of goal or tamely into the keeper's arms. If he has then he should be sacked.
Mauricio certainly got wound up by the suggestion that there was a problem and Rickie might leave. You could see he thought it was a stupid question. He also said that SRL was not a typical English centre forward, but had many other skills. Doesn't just lump it with his head (as translated by David).
I bet Pardew's interested... In my honest and and truthful opinion, I can't see him leaving. Even if his form doesn't warrant a start, if I was on the opposing team I would not want Lambert to be brought on. He may go on loan to The Championship at some point, but not now.
Lambert won't drop to the Championship now...he's tasted the big time. He'd rather retire at the top.
Poch quashes Lambert leaving rumours: Pochettino was also keen to deny suggestions England international Rickie Lambert may be leaving St Mary's in the future in Skysports interview: "There is a lot of expectation placed on him, but we're very relaxed and happy with his contributions," added Pochettino. "He's been in the starting XI for five games, so I don't understand these sorts of rumours."
Osvaldo and Lambert have hardly played together. Osvaldo hasn't done anything yet in terms of goals or assists so I don't see why many are targeting Lambert, who is already a proven goal scorer and creator of goals for us. It will take time. I don't know how many of you remember the torrid start Billy Sharp had playing alongside Lambert. The first few games were a complete nightmare for Billy Sharp but soon after that things clicked. We just need to be patient I think. I don't agree with Pochettino's tactics of playing Rodriguez, Lambert and Osvaldo together. If he wants both Lambert and Osvaldo starting then Rodriguez should be on the bench.
