Southampton FC are threatening to establish themselves as the âbest of the restâ in the Premier League this season and can claim another three points against Crystal Palace.Best match oddsSouthampton â 8/15 (Ladbrokes)Draw â 33/10 (BetVictor)Crystal Palace â 8/1 (BetVictor)The cream has risen to the top after just five games with the âbig sevenâ all inside the top eight â the only imposters being Southampton, who currently find themselves just above reigning champions Manchester United. And Saints will fancy their chances of climbing even higher after facing Palace, for whom you have to think their 3-1 victory over Sunderland was a false dawn achieved against a team even worse than them, at the time anyway. This looks a good game in which to have a crack at the correct score because Southampton are confidently expected to win and probably keep a clean sheet, with their defence having looked really solid so far. They have yet to concede two goals in a game over the course of their seven outings this term - and that statistic extends to only one match out of 17 in which they have been breached twice if you go back to March. The only team to beat Southampton so far are Norwich and although the league form at home has not been hugely convincing â draws with Sunderland and West Ham â victories at West Brom and most recently Liverpool show this is a team going places
Best of the rest, hmmm, depends on the spin. Obviously our position is very good at present, two impressive away wins under our belts already. Then there's the haven't scored a goal from open play, have not won at home & the dreadful...gave Di Canio his only point stat. As I say, depends on your spin. Bit early for BOTR predictions in my eyes.
Spare of the moment flight back to the UK for this one and first home game this season . Got a ticket this morning, going to be of a bit of dash down from Heathrow to make the kick off. I'm guessing collecting my ticket right before kick off wont cause me any problems?
Oh the ever reliable ticket office "not many left" quote. Comes from the same school as Tuesdays statement about there being a "massive walkup expected for the Bristol City game"
Ouch. You'd be gutted wouldn't you? Especially as the goal seems to have been the highlight of an otherwise fairly lame Saints performance by all accounts.
If that's the case, shows a terrible bit of organisation by Saints, when they themselves predicted it would happen. So, they don't even believe their own projections. And to prove it, just rang up the ticket office and they said that 42,000 tickets have been sold for Saturday... when we play Real Madrid... in the African cup of Nations... at Chess.

Poch in pretty good form today. Must be getting fed up with the same old questions about being able to beat the big teams and not the 'little' ones. His english is certainly good enough to understand questions now.
The reason that it all went to cock in regards to fan late entry and ticketing for the city game , was that saints booking systems went down at the stadium . There was a 30 min stage approaching KO where as they could only do cash only sales for pre printed adult tickets in rows FF of the chapel stand area . Hense why I gambled to wait for a better seat which luckily happened as the systems were fixed , but this left long ques .........hope you all feel really enlightened ! ...I lost interest in my own post half way through ..but saw it through
