That's last season. As I said I hope it starts clicking and Lambert starts scoring. Yes this Season Osvaldo hasn't scored yet either but looks far more likely then Lambert atm. Even if you take the goals out of it Lambert's link up play has suffered this season as well. I'm not saying I want him to go. I'm saying I can see it happening depending on how Lambert plays up until Jan. If we are playing the same now then there is no doubt we will bring another player in. It's basically me wanting to see Lambert succeed this season really.
Have made my mind up...cannot bear to see Lambie play for anyone else...so I vote we have him put down
I agree ! ...I know a good vet !...will give him a call to get a price should it have to happen , seeing lambert pull on another shirt now would be too much
A guide to lazy jounalism. Take a series of isolated facts:- Journo publishes story..there are no official or public comments to back it... it contradicts previous information and general perception... Develop a scenario to fit the "facts":- journalists need to file copy and fill space... creating speculation and a story that isnt there for dubious reasons... Publish to the general public:- Accuse lazy journo's of making up stories on public chat forum... It seems we have dozens of perfectly qualified journalists right here!
I'm confident he will. He must have got pretty used to proving doubters wrong, at every level. Besides, the manager appears to have every faith in him, so I really don't see where the speculation about his future comes from.
More worried then doubt tbh. Worried that him getting older has finally caught up with him. But hopefully he will prove me wrong.
I don't want Lambert to leave and it's a long way off happening but who says it would just be the club's decision? Lambert now has a genuine chance of going to the World Cup and if he was benched here he might ask for a move to improve his chances of playing in Brazil next summer. You could also argue he'd be better off playing for a team where the tactics suit his style of play more.
What other Premier League club could he go to where he would get enough game time and enough good service to improve his scoring record? I disagree that he doesn't fit our set up any more, he just needs to click with Osvaldo is all that needs to happen. The service from the flanks will improve with Shaw and Clyne getting forward more, and the set piece service will get better with JWP getting more game time. There is no way we would sell him to any other Prem team, and he wouldn't want to drop down the Leagues this season when he has his only chance to go to a World Cup. So this story is nonsense.
Related - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24284247 Firstly Le Tiss inducted into the football museum hall of fame - nice. So assuming England qualify, do we think Lambert will go to Brazil?
Well as Dan said, he's only got 3 in open play under Poch so you could argue most clubs would be better for him in that regard. Who'd be interested? Obviously not the top 6 or 7 and probably not Swansea but it's pretty much accepted that West Ham are. Newcastle could well be interested as well and Pardew has worked with him successfully before. I could see Stoke going for him and maybe even Hull as well. They've started decently by all accounts but are short of a goal scorer. Do I want him to go? No. Do I think it will happen? Probably not. Is it a speculative article? Yes. Is it unthinkable nonsense? No.
On another point , how far in reality would a PL player be prepared to travel to training / playing and back ? I only ask , as I have it on very good authority that he is looking to buy a house in the Winchester . Straight down the motorway I know , but would he want to ?.
If we got an attacker and Lambert wanted to leave, and Saints got a decent (not great) price I think Saints would let him go. Barring that, I can't see it. Even if we brought in another attacking player, or someone takes Lambert's spot he would still be a strong option off the bench. And we don't need the money. I think what Saints would love to see is for Lambert to close out his career here, and possibly play some role beyond that. It's just a matter of how long that career will last and what path it takes. Obviously Saints and Lambert could easily disagree as to how much he's got left in the tank. But unless Lambert asks out, we won't sell him. NC has handed out a lot of contracts to aging players and other players who seemed like they would be superfluous to requirements before their contract expires if the team improves. He doesn't seem to mind. The contract is your reward for good play, beyond that there's no guarantees. He definitely won't bow to demands to be moved or for first team action. On the other hand, he doesn't appear much interested in forcing players out either. If you are okay with whatever your role is in the club, you can stay as long as you wish. The way he's handled Puncheon (kicking him off the squad, letting him back in, signing him to a contract when he didn't seem to be a first-team guy, letting him leave) seems like it's illustrative of how NC operates.
MP has just laughed off the rumours surrounding Lambert about him leaving. He said that he doesn't understand the rumours and he doesn't want to.
Mauricio's reaction to this in the press conference pretty much confirms that this is a silly rumour.
How does anyone know whether Rickie fit's Pochettinos system? other than Pochettino himself? How do any of you (or anyone else for that matter) know that Rickie isn't following instructions he is given to a tee? How does anyone know that he isn't doing better than anyone else in the team at following Pochettino's instructions? Too many people on this board assume that they know what Pochettino's system is, know what he wants each player / position to do, know how well any player / position is completing the instructions given by Pochettino. Same with Rodriguez. Many saying he isn't producing the goods. How do you know, he may well be following his instructions...............I could go on Sometimes I think many football fans are able to read other people's minds or have access to transcripts of everything the chairman, manager, coaches, players say. Maybe you all have the leaked disciplinary records so that we can discuss why a tea lady or cleaner was dismissed? All we have is an assumption of what the system is, an inkling of what the fine detail of each player's instructions are. We DO NOT know if any player is or isn't performing the instructions to a tee and have no real idea if Osvaldo was brought in as a main striker with a view to Lambert being a more creative player. It may be that Lambert's role is slowly being altered as another of our creative signings isn't fitting the bill? WE DO NOT KNOW
