I haven't changed. I saw an unwillingness to spend - I now see progress. Insufficient progress, but progress.

I saw a shaky, leaky defense. I now see a team that's solid as a unit, but MUST cut out the individual errors. Too many penalties conceded.

I saw poor contract negotiations. I now see many good players tied in to long-term deals.

I saw poor players stuck on the wage bill. Now I see only Park & Diaby who need to go.

I saw a ridiculous "socialist" wage structure which rewarded mediocrity. That is by all accounts being changed.

I saw a lack of youth prospects who could really challenge the first team. Now I see Akpom, Bellerin, Gnabry coming through.

I still see a lack of tactical awareness at times, and a lack of superstar quality. I see a horrifically thin squad & a seemingly inadequate training program & medical staff. I see under-exploited commercial revenue streams. But I do see progress. You can't argue with the run Arsenal have been on of late. They finished the season in fine form through the necessity of Champions League, but they have started very well this season.

From the jaws of despair, I now see hope, and you should too.

    Allow me to follow suit:

I'm not the one making an incorrect observation. You're implying that all Welsh people shag sheep, which is untrue. I'm implying that all yanks are thick as pig ****, which is true.

    1. I see no progress. He's never had an unwillingness to spend, he just always spends unwisely. We did not need Ozil.
    2. I see a defence that still looks like strangers
    3. I see us still overpaying crap players, and underpaying good players
    4. I see an entire youth team that needs to be replaced, that'll clear up some money
    5. I see a socialist wage structure that still exists
    6. I see no youth talent coming through
    7. I see us suffering from inept medical care, no tactics, a pathetic squad.

You must be smoking something strong, because where i'm sitting, the future's bleak, the future's Arsene.

    1. We did not need Ozil <rofl> Top assister in the league. Your talking ****....again.
    2. 2nd best defense in the league, look solid as a unit and the BFG-Kos combo is a top CB partnership <doh>
    3. Only 2 players who don't deserve their salary ATM are Park, commercial buy, and Diaby, injury prone bus still could come good.
    4. Gnabry, Olsson, Akpom, Zel, Ryo, Bellerin, Eis, maybe Yennaris, and Barkley all decent young players who have potential to be quality players <doh> but now you want to save money when you BITCH ABOUT NOT USING FUNDS <doh>
    5. If you can't see change is being made....you're blind
    6. See post 4
    7. No tactics but yet top of the league and on an amazing run including wins over Bayern, Spurs, etc... OK. No tactics yet we've amassed the most points in 2013 and are on an 11 game away winning streak

You are an idiot who tries to act all negative to seek attention. Its sad and pathetic.

I haven't read much of the content of this thread, but I agree with the original sentiment. Other than the win vs. Spurs nothing has seemed particularly straightforward in the league thus far, despite the quality of the opposition. The idea of winning poorly has become a hollow meme; yes, no title-winning team has won the league by playing wonderfully each match, but surely a certain high standard has to be set at some point, and the current Arsenal squad hasn't quite got there yet (even if the results have been good so far).

Saying that, the first five games will teach us very little about how the form of each team will pan out over the season. Even if the squad hasn't performed wonderfully, at least being top of the league should be a confidence boost and a platform from which to work from.

    Great post <ok>

This pretty much sums up my thinking. I was at odds with several members of this board over the direction of our club many times last season but it is indisputable that a lot of the issues that were holding us back have been addressed, to varying degrees. Signing Ozil is a dramatic step in the right direction in terms of our transfer policy. I still think we should have signed a striker of note much earlier in the summer and I think another attacking player is needed if we are to return to our previous status as a serious title challenger but the crucial point is that the situation is definitely improving.

Hans Gruber sounds like a spoilt, money-worshipping Chelsea or Citeh fan. I agree that there are still serious issues that need to be addressed but at least we now have hope, it seems to me that HG wants absolutely everything to be sorted straight away, the kind of attitude a 7 yr old girl has on her birthday.

    <laugh>

Despite how I worded it, I didn't mean that Spurs were the easiest team - quite the opposite - but it seems to have been the only game so far where we've actually played very well all over the pitch.

I think it's fair to say that there's been a great improvement in our commercial activities over the last few years. That is one thing that Ivan Gazidis should be applauded for. There is not a lot i'd disagree with in the rest of your post though <ok>

Funny how we've constantly said that but he's the one acting like the thick pig ****.
Moving on, We haven't really been challenged yet in the league other than Spurs but Swansea and WBA coming up should be good tests

I wouldn't. United look average so far, Chavski I'm still not 100% sure of yet, City are hot and cold, Spurs and Pool we should be finishing ahead of. Think we can be in the mix this season.
