Disappointing to say the least. Some players will have very little game time after this, and rightly so. This was a chance for us to get a good run going again but I think players heads were up their backsides! On a side note, who is the arse commentating with Ratcliffe....he seemed quite thrilled once they went 3-0 up.
Agree Norway. But after the Crystal Palace match where the players gave it everything they got, I thought they were over that psycological barriere. There's no doubt that they on a good day can beat just about any team.
I think we can conclude that our players already own this medal and cup so the desire and effort was just not applied in the correct manor , if it was we would hve won, as for Brum being too physical, well stoke sunderland and a few others are just as bad in the prem league and we have also spent many years in the lower leagues so know the score. Off the top of my head monk, leon and taylor now the way its played at this level so there wouldn't be any shock to the system. lets be honest the players threw this game because they have priority elsewhere, not sure if laudrup sees it that way but the senior players have ! no stress, I don't even know what exact line up we had tonight, so even am apathetic for this match !...
I never like losing, but sh.it happens and we have got to move on to the Europa Cup, Premier League and FA Cup now
Collectively all 11 are responsible for this terrible result and no late consilation goal makes a difference.
Seems like they wanted it a tad more than us........Well done Birmingham Onwards and upwards Arsenal next and St Gallen, bring it on
Was this Monk´s last game in a Swan shirt? (not related to his performance, just cant see in which games he would fit in, unless we get injuries)
Pity really but we still have a lot of matches left this season so there's a silver lining i guess. I couldnt get to the match or find a stream, can someone who watched it tell me if there was weak link or a combination of too many faces without much game time and not gelling.
Bony plays Bony scores , that's worth its weight in Gold guys ! He can score when we don't even give a fook so he must be seriously good ! ! ...
Just look at our back line! Tells you all you need to know................. Taylor? off form after injury, and nowhere near his best Monk? Well the less said about the fact he's still trying to play football, the better Tiendalli? No where near his best of last season Amat? loose cannon at the minute, still getting to grips with the British game No way was Laudrup taking this cup serious this season, cannot say I'm bothered either.........................
FA Cup? Personally I still think we are missing a centre half of quality - just in case Chico or Ash gets injured. Amat is learning the ropes and Garry Monk, a great club servant, cannot play at the level the Swans want to get to.
I wonder if the agenda changed when we beat Valencia away last week ? its looking very good for progression in the Europa league after that win so its possible there was a concerted effort to not put in a massive effort tonight ! Less balls to juggle in the air for Laudrup and now he can be strong for 3 competitions that he hasn't won as opposed to one that he has , im almost certain the senior players are thinking this though they would never come clean about it in a million years. In fact I could probably write the answers in tomorrows paper today ! " been a long week, one or two tired legs, lots of traveling ,took our foot off the gas " etc,etc
Monk is the only one we would expect to struggle, the others should be snuffing out Championship opposition. I am bothered, throwing away games in this manner is just terrible, that defence is the second string and should be playing hell for leather to push for first team football and if they can't do that then they shouldn't be at the club come next summer.
