Almost the team I said; Skrtel for Wisdom with Toure playing at RB. I'd prefer my team #typo Hope so too Bar the anti-Suarez people which is more or less every none-Liverpool fan. In fact, its even some Liverpool fans
It's great saying your unbeaten but that usually means most games were drawn. I was saying the other day I'd rather split the draws into wins [obviously] and losses than go 'unbeaten' -it means more points.
There's 2 ways of looking at that, obviously 3 draws = 1 win + 2 defeats in terms of merely points. But teams who go on long unbeaten runs tend to develop both an inner belief that they will not lose & gain results off the back of that belief, as well as intimidating the opposition (particularly at home).
Agreed. That's the joke with the views of some that Wengers 'invincibles' was the best P.L side ever; despite their points total that year being beaten on a few occassions. You could in theory go the whole season unbeaten and still be relegated - though 38 points / 38 draws is probably pretty unlikely!!
It does but can sometimes have a negating effect. When we had our massive unbeaten run at the Bridge, there were definetely some tight games where we almost seemed happy with a draw rather than risk losing the game to try and win it - and therefore our record building coming to an end.
.....but maybe that's exactly how you came to have the record in the first place......it was what Mourinho did at Chelsea first time round & it was bloody successful eh?
I think the "I'd rather win and lose then draw two games" view from Liverpool fans comes from the 2008-09 season when we only lost two all season but still finish four points behind Man Utd. Team morale is very important IMO and losing is a big blow to moral. I'm greedy though, I'd rather be unbeaten but also have more points!
Exactly Our unbeaten run didn't fill anyone with confidence imo. I'd take wins and losses over mediocrity - which is what a run of draws amounts to
Problem is our unbeaten run was only 4 games, forget last season it was nice to string them together and make that claim of 12 but it meant nothing. If we go into an unbeaten run that spans lets say 6 games then the players will start to believe and fight to keep that record going. That's my opinion anyway.
We need some momentum after the last couple of results the problem is so do the mancs after their humiliation and lack of progress under moyes so I can see 2 strong teams and maybe the ref (Clattenburg) deciding the game for the home team
We've only lost one of our last 24 league games at Goodison - that was over 9 months ago & it's definitely instilled both confidence in our performances at home & the opposition coming looking to avoid defeat rather than thinking they can leave with the 3 points. To suggest that might be something that you wouldn't want is a tad short sighted imo.
