Apart from the Villa game where the ref cost us, we have been playing quite well and getting results.

We ARE top of the league currently, but the point is this, we should not get carried away as so far, we have not played ANY top teams. Let's wait until we have played anyone decent before we start getting excited.

    That's all.

I refer you to the original post.

We have not played anyone who has won the league in the last 50 years or so.

Tottenham have not really played anyone of note apart from us. All the sides they've beaten have been relegation fodder. Apart from maybe Swansea. The likes of Cardiff, Crystal Palace, Norwich, etc.

For us, Fulham, Sunderland away are usually pretty tough. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Cardiff beat City, and are looking very strong at home, Swansea are a very strong outfit and Palace was the first game of the season away, which is usually good for newly promoted teams.
Norwich are also very tough to break down, and have invested quite alot of money.

Villa are very hit and miss, and the other two teams you have played are in the drop zone so I wouldn't say either has had an easier start than the other.

To write us off as not a "decent" team though would seem rather petty though as we invested heavily this summer, & have beaten you regularly in different competitions for the last 5 years (although not at Emirates granted).

That's fair enough, but I consider top teams, as teams who have won the league within the last 50 years. I suppose as top clubs go, you are up there with the likes of Villa really.

But anyway, let's wait until we have played the likes of Man U, Chelsea and Man C, before we get excited.

I like the sublety of "ANY" like we wouldn't know the whole point was to wum visiting Spurs fans. By your very narrow definition of big club, Villa are above us by the way. And to be fair thay have already spanked you once this season, so you are 1 down to big clubs yourselves.

Which is why I don't count Villa as a big club either.

How can I, as an Arsenal fan be wumming on my own board. Surely, I would post on your board if that was the intention?

Merely warning us Gooners not to get too carried away until we have played a decent top club.

Cardiff also lost to West Ham 2-0, not that great. Swansea I grant you. Palace as well as they might have played in the first game of the season are many people's favourites for relegation. Norwich were abysmal.

Villa beat us with the aid of some VERY debatable refereeing decisions, and the match has now been put into its proper context. As I mentioned, relegation zone or not, Fulham and Sunderland are two teams we routinely struggle against and there was no guarantee of beating either.

No-one writes you off as not a "decent" side, although judgment should be reserved for after this weekend.. I mentioned earlier, that both of our teams have had fairly easy starts admittedly, (I am biased when I say ours was slightly harder than yours). We will know more about where we stand in the coming weeks, and with us, when we get our full compliment of players back.

That's living in the past as much as one can get. Not even last year has a bearing on some of the teams this year.

Let's take City as an example..so putting Arsenal/Spurs bias aside...they basically became a top team overnight and a top team they are...there is no denying that despite them having won nothing prior to the takeover. Your team have won nothing in the last 8 years...are you telling me that does not bother you because you are still basking in the glory of the years before 2005?

I very much doubt it as your only concern is how your team is doing in the present...and as far as the present is concerned then you can't say Spurs are not a top team....just like I can't really deny that Arsenal aren't.

Only two teams have scored maximum points against the teams they should be beating so far: Spurs and United.

Every other team has dropped points to fodder. Write those two off at your peril.

That is another way of looking at it and a sensible way at that.

I remember Fergie once saying that United have 3 or 4 rivals at the top and if he lost to them then it doesn't bother him so long as he beats the rest...because that means they would win the league.
