Sickener really, but we started to give possession away far too much and allowed Narge to keep coming back at us. Oh well, I never liked that cup anyway!
That sums it up. Unfortunately playing the reserves lacking match fitness bit us in the butt. I think Connor was the biggest casualty, he seemed to get lost again and seemed panicked at times. Its a shame Josh went off (back spasms so you know), he could have been a revelation
Thanks babyhornetdan for your kind words on our thread, I hold my hands up, you definitely did not deserve to lose that match! Just make sure you come and join us in the Prem. next year!
Very good performance for 70 minutes. Defensively solid and dangerous in midfield although I didn't think FF or Deeney were at their sharpest when they came on. We seemed to tire maybe due to the injuries and Norwich made a couple of key changes and scored a very well taken first go of course. Encouraging by Murray again and both wing backs played well. Great atmosphere too...
Morning Hornets. Just thought I'd say that I confess I had never heard of Essaïd Belkalem before I went to last nights game, but he was absolutely immense for you - judging from his performance you'd do well to sign him permanently. I think we were a little fortunate to have won in the end, and the tiredness of your players towards the end certainly played a big part.
We were in total control and the crowd encouraged a bit of showboating and the players obliged with some scintillating stuff for 15 mins but they got careless & Norwich scored their first against the run of play and the momentum from that moment on was with them. Some of the best football I have ever seen at the Vic during that period. Let's hope with an important league game at the weekend it hasn't tired them out too much as many of them will be involved.
It would appear that the ref got the 'headbutt' incident wrong. I have to say, I thought it was odd for Daniel to go down like that for no reason. Its. Not in his make up. View attachment 26518
We have a small report which starts with some other lines then... http://www.mbl.is/sport/enski/2013/09/24/tottenham_orugglega_afram_cardiff_ur_leik/ ...Norwich var þó nálægt þvà en það bjargaði jafntefli með tveimur mörkum á lokamÃnútunum gegn Watford. Gary Hooper skoraði svo sigurmarkið à framlengingunni. ...Norwich was even closer, but saved the tie with two goals in the last minutes against Watford. Gary Hooper scored the winning goal in overtime.
Chris Hughton seems to think Norwich were the better team and deserved to win. He's talking out of his backside.
On SSN, Paul Walsh (yes, I do realise who he played for) said that Norwich were on top until we scored, then we grew in confidence and after we went 2-0 up Norwich had plenty of the ball but he thought they weren't really creating and that we were likely to get a 3rd from a counter-attack. He also thinks the reason Norwich came back into it was Murphy's energy.
Neither team deserved to lose the match and by that merit neither deserved to win either. If it was a league match a point would have been fair. But as we know, there had to be a winner.
And at 90 minutes it was 2 - 2 which was a fair reflection though we were fortunate to get that equaliser so late in the game!
My question is: why did Zola field a Watford B team against Premier League opposition. Why did Conner Smith come on instead of Anya..........could it be that GFZ considers rotational players more important than the score but I honestly thought at the start of the match that we would lose, which we did, although we played with a lot of heart and commitment. Great supporting from the crowd, best ever
Haha yes mate. They worked a treat. Made it to the ground with about 15mins to spare in the end. Much appreciated.
