Of course we wanted to win the game. If we dont give some of the 2nd string a run out in the Capital cup, then when do we. Doesnt sound like Bakayogo did he chances much good, hauled off at half time along with young Hopper, but they had a chance. Normal business was resumed though with the introduction of Dyer, Knocky and Nugent. Well done boys. On we go. Pretty certain to get a Premiership team in next round....knowing our luck it will be Burnley away!!!! lol
lol.... what do any of us know mate. We all think we are the next Alex Ferguson! Apparently we went 3 at the back 2nd half. Good win in the end. Glad Knocky got one.
So, of the 11 games played tonight in the cup, 9 Premiership teams went through to the last 16 (Just us and Burnley are the other 2) (Spurs, Man City, Chelsea, Southampton, Hull, Norwich, Fulham, Sunderland, West Ham) Tomorrows games; Birmingham v Swansea Man Utd v Liverpool Newcastle v Leeds Tranmere v Stoke West Brom Arsenal. Wow not many upsets this year like last year (Bradford) Who do you fancy in the next round?
Excellent post Miami. There are many reasons to make changes in the League Cup, the ideal situation is to advance without putting too much strain on the first team and that's exactly what happen tonight. We were terrible in the first half but I don't think we should be too critical, six players made the full home debut, some of whom haven't been at the club two seconds. That said, Bakayogo was terrible; hard to believe some fans that claimed to know about him have been calling for him to replace Konch in the first team - if his first two performances are anything to judge by, I don't think we'll see much of him. The question is, will Person play reserves again after that first half showing? I doubt it to be honest, especially since it's likely to be against Prem sides from hereon in. And Miami, I hope we do get Burnley away! The more we can test ourselves against the best the Championship has to offer, the sooner we'll know how good we actually are...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24237956 Some quite interesting views on our "Cup Importance" debate.
Look out for ball number 5 tonight!! http://www.capitalonecup.co.uk/news/article/round-4-draw-details-1314-1075590.aspx
I find it a bit weird that Bruce makes 11 changes for each cup game and then complains about a lack of excitement.
Im sure he wont make 11 changes after this round, teams will start taking it more seriously now that we're down to 16 teams left.
Home draw - good test for us - a chance to measure the team ... looking forward to it ... remember beating Fulham in the cup the last time!!
