Not sure you can blame Moyes as people forget Man Utd also lost David Gill,He would have helped Moyes settle more and not make a fool of himself. Utds New chief executive appears to be naive and also in a job he is trying to get to grips with so there is no one for Moyes to get advice from. Plus who signed Young? Fergie. look at how many of Utds players 'aren't utd quality' ...Fergie signed players like Young, Nani. Fellani is no worse. Valencia was superb against Bayern and moyes cant predict such a drastic drop in form. All in all, Moyes has Been given a huge task and deserves two seasons to make his mark and the step up.
I always liked that phrase, thanks for the song. Did you know Nat King Cole was the first African American to host a network television show, in the late fifties, I think. It was interesting because the network was willing to give him the show, stars were glad to be on it and people were happy to watch, but sponsors refused to back it, apparently due to fear at a backlash from southern white customers. So it went off the air after only a couple of years despite good ratings.
There was a T.V. programme about that a little while back ,on BBC 4,on a Friday night when they do show's about Music
Such stories are right through the history of jazz RWAEB, I didn't know that particular one. The lack of respect shown to some of the most important artists and composers of the twentieth century is appalling., Ellington, Holiday, Lester Young, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, and on and on and on.
McGuiness replaced Busby (he was Busby's assistant) McGuiness was sacked and replaced by O'Farrell who was the manager of Leicester City This is a reply to notsosmartspur
I don 'to think that's entirely fair on Moyes. Surely he needed the time to make his own assessment of what he already had, before rushing into the market? O.k. He ( utd?) made a silly mistake with Fabregas, but I still think it's premature to rush to a condemnation.
Don't forget Tommy Docherty who took Man United back to Div 1 after being relegated.Remember that, pop pickers?
All fair comment (as was Boss' comment). I think Moyes will be a good appointment in time (I wanted him to replace Harry) but he has to take his share of the blame if things haven't started too well. Certainly not writing him off though. The surprising thing for me was how well Utd did with what looks a poor team (behind RVP and Rooney) last season.
And he turns it round. Fulham have a decent squad this year, certainly our 4 former players - Berbatov, Bent, Taarabt and Parker are a strong base to work from, and Sidwell is decent too. I don't expect them to struggle for long, if they do BMJ deserves the 'spanish archer'
Hughton's bought himself some time, coming from 2-0 down to take it into extra time. There's always one random sacking a season when a manager is doing a good job (last season it was Adkins) so on that basis I'd say Steve Bruce.
Surprised me too, mate. I suppose it just shows what confidence and the winning habit can do for you.
The Utd board haven't come up with nearly as much money as they should have done given their income. I guess it's all the debt they piled up when the club effectively used it's own assets to buy itself. I wish I could get away with something like that! But I've been constantly amused in recent seasons when Utd have been linked with spending £££ for the very top players, knowing that the Board simply won't (probably can't afford to) do that. The idea that they might have had a chance for Bale is right up there with the most ludicrous of the Bale transfer rumours (and that's saying something). So to sum up, I think Moyes might well be on difficult ground, a lot of which is not his own making. There is the lack of investment and, perhaps crucially, potentially lack of support from the refs which has to be worth quite a few points each season. But judging by the Palace match, perhaps that support is still there!
Fellow pros voted de Gea, Ferdinand & Carrick into the PFA team. Evra had a good season. Rafael too. Hernandez chipped in with plenty of goals. Vidic was top drawer when he came back into the side. There were important cameos from Kagawa & Valencia. Utd didn't win the league with 89 points (after easing up) without having a few players performing.
Its mainly because when fans think of a great Utd team under Ferguson, we think of Giggs, beckham, Keane, Cantona, Schemichel, and co, and in all honestly some of the players Utd have had in recent years like Ashley Young, Nani , even Cleverley, you can't help but think these players aren't Utd quality and the recent teams just don't have that overall quality that Fergie teams used to have. Although maybe that says even more about Fergie as a manager, that he can wn the title, scoring near to 90 points with a team which isn't in the same class as some of his other teams.
It's true Boss - these players aren't as good, but the game has changed. There are fewer teams challenging at the top, teams rely on bigger squads rather than stronger first XIs, the English mentality of give 100% and win at all costs has waned - and SAF knew how to exploit that and even if the players are not as good, they still have experience and know how to win, which counts for a lot. I still believe (hope) it will prove significant this season.
Enough for them to be buying the biggest club (in any sport) with its own money. That's a hell of a lot.
I was chatting to 2 Utd fans the other day and both of them were really critical of Cleverly (not good enough) and also Welbeck despite (imo) his better than usual season so far. Both also HATED Young's antics, fair play.
