You're what..? Do you mean stoke, as in a filled up with coal and ready to be lit boiler fire..? I would imagine this is another americanism borne of watching the film, Titanic. !?!
I have heard this phrase before and have probably used it - meaning ready for the action to start or more frequently excited for the action to start. I always assumed it was derived from stoking a fire too.
Must admit I wasn't going to highlight it, but I nearly did a tea spurt, so I had to mention it. I suppose 'excited' isn't enough anymore. At least it wasn't 'pumped'. Nothing to do with this particular set of words, but I've been guilty of saying 'thanks for the heads up', rather than 'thanks for bringing that to my attention'.
Haha I used it specifically for this reason! Wasn't aware it was an Americanism, I used it as a colleague at work asked me if I was excited to be carrying out a new procedure yesterday. It was used ironically. But I'm still stoked in any case!
As per with Saints cup ties, it'll be on Radio Solent with updates on the website and Twitter. I will post updates in here too.
Can't believe I am actually going to this, and paid the ridiculous prices. I don't know how the club gets away with charging a £2.00 booking fee per ticket, regardless of how you buy them.
Quotes from Pochettino's programme notes: "We want a cup run to help our league form" "Success breeds success" "We have a squad of players here who are desperate to win prizes for the club"
"Stoked" is surfer slang. Like a lot of surfer terms, it's crossed over to non-surfers. Mostly non-surfers who talk like surfers though-- your heshers, duders, stoners, brahs and the like. Still don't hear it very often in mainstream culture.
It may be too small for the future, but it's a damn fine looking stadium. I really like it that there's not a single break in the seating, other than access, and that the view is superb wherever you sit. That's when people sit down, of course.
Talking of Manny, he came on after 63 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Nantes and played the full ninety in a 2-0 loss to Lille. He has no goals and one yellow card to his name thus far.
