I know its not everybody Bow, i don't think its even most to be fair but the knee jerk, 12 year old girl bitching by some people really does piss me off. if aspas would of scored on Saturday he would be hailed as an all conquering hero by the same people who are calling him ****e today. As impressionable as wet clay and as changeable as the wind.

Go **** yourself. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, just because you disagree you think you're right. For the record if Aspas had scored at the weekend I would have exactly the same view on him. He did well in pre-season against **** teams, but is useless against tougher teams in the PL, it's that simple.

Your username is very appropriate. Fool.

Willing to give him a chance - has struggled since the Stoke game but he has been playing in an unfamiliar role. However, that is no excuse for some of the things he's done i.e. poor touch, passing etc.

I do think he will improve and grow as the seasons goes on <ok>

Bear in mind, our best attack will be Sturridge, Coutinho, Suarez and Moses, with Aspas on the bench.

Sky your welcome to your opinion and i'm not saying i'm right. What i'm struggling with is righting a player off after a hand full of appearances in his first season. I can see why people are the not happy with his performances at the moment, he has not exactly set the world alight, but surely abit of patience is not a lot to ask.

Some said the same about Borini last year and got pretty much the same reaction..."Knee jerk", "great pre-season", "just needs to beef up" etc etc. At least with Borini he's a fair bit younger but Aspas is 26, he should be "beefed up" by now and anyone who thinks pre-season is the place to judge players needs their heads testing.

The simple fact is bar the Stoke game where he was ok he hasn't played well enough. That's not over reacting it's just a fakht. Saying he needs to improve greatly isn't knee jerk and it isn't a character assasination it's just the truth. What he's shown so far simply isn't good enough for a top four team. Yes it's early days and yes he might turn into a valuable asset but what are the attributes and skills he has to become that? Pace? No. Strength? No. Outrageous skill? No. Goal scoring prowess? Not so far no. As a forward player it helps to have one or two of these attributes.

The main problem for lads like Borini or Aspas (squad players if you like) is that chances to shine are limited. You might not get many starts early on so you have to shine when opportunity knocks...or you have to prove you can at least be useful as an impact player off the bench. With Suarez returning his chances are going to become fewer and fewer so he needs to improve and do it quickly. I hope he does...but as of yet I don't see where it's coming from.

Billy, Aspas and Borini are 2 different types of player. BUT, they both need to bulk up to survive in the Prem. In Spain, Italy, Portugal, etc. lighter-framed players can find a 'marauding' role in the front line. However, the Prem is just too fast and strong for those players to survive here.

Nobody is claiming that Aspas will be a regular starter but there has been enough in his performances that, with work, he can be a useful squad player. Give the lad a chance. Remember many of us said the same about Henderson!

I'm not writing him off Dave but he needs to improve and fast. This is a massive season for us. This could be our best opportunity to get a top 4 spot for the next 4 or 5 years. No European distractions and 4 out of last years top 6 with new managers. We simply cannot afford to be carrying passengers and so far Aspas has looked just that. You have a point about Henderson but he joined us at 20 not 26. By 26 you should be fit and strong enough to cope with a physical game. Granted he may need time to adjust etc but we can't afford to have players "adjusting" while they're playing in the first team regularly.

Billy, it's the regularity that is the key. We know he's going to be a bench player. He now knows what the battlefield looks like in this league. He should also have an understanding of those areas of his game that have to improve. So as I see it, it's up to him to put in the time in the gym and on the training ground. If he doesn't then he will not improve and Rodgers has bought a dud. If he does then we have a very useful squad player. I don't call that a problem it's far more of an opportunity.

With Suarez returning, Aspas was always going to be the player to have to make way.

I've not seen much of the other lad Alberto, so can't comment on him, but Aspas looks like a busy quick little player, but I wasn't quite sure what he was - a winger, a striker or a No.10? I can't say I was impressed, but it'd be harsh to right the lad off after such a short period.

Obviously we all want him to improve mate, even the best players should be looking to do that <ok> However I have an issue with how effective he'll ever be as a substitute and as you say that is going to be his primary role when we have Suarez and Cout back. Is he good enough to shore us up when we are leading in a tight game? So far he hasn't been able to hold the ball up well enough or even just find a simple pass. Is he good enough to open up a stubborn defence when we are losing and need an impact substitute? Again I don't think he's shown anything to suggest he's that type of player.

Alberto is definitely one for the future, whereas Aspas was brought in to provide much needed depth to our squad.

Aspas can play as the striker or on the wing. He's definitely not a number 10. <ok>

    Agressive?? Me?? <laugh>

Sorry Luv he's calling people 12 year old girls that are as impressionable as wet clay and as changeable as the wind, which is complete bollox <ok>

I've got no beef with Liverpoolfool, he seems like a decent enough guy - but to suggest people can't have a negative opinion of a player that should be in his prime, that brings nothing to the team is a joke.

He's spent his whole career in either B teams or lower league teams (except last season) and he's a striker and we simply didn't/don't need him. No-where near enough quality to play for Liverpool. Billy made the point very well, he has absolutely no attributes to bring to the squad. If he was 21, yeah I would maybe consider he'll improve - But he's in his prime, and clearly playing for a team and a league way above his level.

A complete waste of money in my opinion, my guess is he'll get hardly any game time when Suarez and Ford are back and end up on loan next season - basically a pointless transfer.

At least Borini is a youngster, and for me he's already a better player than Aspas.

P.S. Didn't mean to respond to Liverpoolfool in such a way, but I took the bait <ok>
