Since the new header has gone up I have been thinking a lot about the club badge - do we need a new one.? Should it have some reference to previous badges/history of the club?

I did a quick mockup - be interested to see what other people can come up with, maybe, if we can come up with something we like we can work it up and send it to the club forum?

    Nice badge mate.

Personally I hope they don't change the badge. I think its the nicest one we've had in decades. I know a lot of people would disagree and also the fact that it was the Mob that brought it in doesn't help but I really like it.

Great post , and nice clean design seagull. I will have a go.

Swords mate you are clueless ... the current badge is a mess and Seagulls is already miles better ... its a massive statement this badge and i am sure TF don't like this current one

Pardon my ignorance but what is the significance of the different symbols on your crest?

I like the badge we have now, one of the few good things that Briatore did for us besides rescuing us from oblivion. It is rather regal. I always thought that the previous one had been designed by a child.

I did ntice last week that Everton fans have revolted against their new badge and the motto that was removed is to be reinstated.

Have to agree with Swords and devon, the current badge is great, I really like it.

It looks professional and is balanced well. Some have said to remove the 'hair like bits' from the sides but that would look terrible and it would be unbalanced then.

    Current badge to stay!

Isn't it obvious? There's three horseshoes in the middle to represent the donkeys we've had across the midfield in the past, and the shoes are pointing downwards, indicating that we've never been a 'lucky' team. At the bottom is an unoccupied tutu, signalling that all our prima-donna high earners are now out of the club. And the two crosses at the top indicate the two arm signals used before dead ball crosses by Joey Barton at corners and free kicks (one arm = clearing the far touchline with this one, lads; two arms = not clearing the first defender).

    Simples.

Oh, and 1882 is the number of threads on the board pleading with harry to change the formation.....

The current badge is ridiculously ornate and pretentious, perfectly representing it's sponsor.

    Right - here you go...

The symbols refer to the London Borough of Hammersmith Crest - it was incorporated into our badge from 1953 - 1973 (ish)

Why mess with the badge we got? What we have is fine. Sticking with the Hooped shirts we use now (Home and Away), and the Badge we got now will help strenghen our Club Identity. Continual fiddling about with these only weakens it.

The current badge is really poor IMO as it was an attempt to make the club up market and the designer had to beat this:

even this logo tidied and sorted would be my choice

To a degree I agree with you - however the current badge does have a lot of baggage - the goons, our disastrous 2 years in the Premiership - I'm yet to hear anyone suggesting changing the hoops - though of course the design is changed every year/2 years depending on the shirt manufacturers

I think the current badge is awful - but it's interesting to hear other views on whether it's something people want/don't want to change

    This absolutely.

...Or, failing that, how about a badge that depicts a group of middle-aged men pining over a naked fat Moroccan that's twirling one blue and one white hula-hoop?

How about this... lose the scroll and modernise the typeface?
