What are your opinions on him? I think he will key next season, he showed promising signs against Burnley & QPR... It may mean a change in formation to 4-4-2 as it brings the best out of him, but that could be a positive move?
a good pre-season where his fitness levels are up to a quality standard then hopefully he can start to regain the form he had for cardiff a couple of seasons ago where he was smashing them in..
He seems ok to me, better than Paynter but not as good as Somma. I think he's average tbh, quick and sharp but he did look poor at times through out, Somma wll be key to this season, record speaks for itself, Somma and McCormack would be good but you lot love your work horse Becchio
I think he's a quality player. He had a poor season, but I think at the start he wasn't at full fitness, and we didn't give him a chance in a 4-4-2 until the last 2 games. He had a good goal scoring season at Cardiff a couple of years ago, so we know he can score. He drops off into midfield and drifts into the wide positions, also has a good cross, which I like because it makes the formation less rigid. McCormack and Becchio will be a good partnership next season, with Somma coming off the bench.
you lot love your work horse Becchio --- He may work hard, but he also scored 19 goals. He holds the ball up well, linking up play and is our top scorer. Him working hard is a bonus. Somma is good, but he's still got to prove himself. 11 goals in 20 odd games is a great record, and he didn't actually get that much of a chance to play in a 2 up top. But lets see if he can do it more regularly next season.
McCormack is a quality player & I expect a big season out of him next term. As for Paynter, I think we will see less of him if our midfield gets sorted. With Becchio unavailable I can see why Grayson tried Billy up there on his own, what I dont get is why he didnt drop him sooner!
The defence is already in better shape than it was last season, whch means SG could & should play 442, diamond, or 433 from the word go. This would then allow him to play Becchio or Paynter with Somma or McCormack. This should ensure we see a lot more of Somma & McCormack than we did last year. Both can do a job for us. Who starts clearly depends on how they go. Alternative thought, how would a front line of Somma & McCormack with Becchio sitting just behind work? Becchio runs around all over the place. Why not play him just behind Somma & McCormack?
Boggers I'd prefer Becchio in the think of things as I think he is one of the most dangerous in the league inside the box & see Mccormack given that bit more freedom behind the front two as he isnt all that in the air. Not to mention Mccormack can swing in a dangerous cross. Think Becchio would be a little wasted further out & he makes so many chances knocking the ball back or accross the face of the goal. But this is what pre-season is all about! Why not give everything a whirl!
McCormack has true quality, he will be a key player for us next season if his fitness is up to scratch.
Seems a fair post all round Bucks. As you say, this is pre-season, or it will be in a couple of weeks. Let's hope SG has a lot of pre-season games up his sleeve so that he can try out all the permutations. Let's also hope that someone is quietly sorting out a tough tackling DM.
Quality Player and will be up there with Becchio and Somma, Paynter doesn't fit the bill for me. He's a good player I'm sure but he doesn't having a cutting edge. McCormack is awesome and if you were privvy to any of his goals in the reserves when he was getting back to full fitness then you'll see why he is a quality player.
Your not the shawn mitchell dude are you, who has an obsession with somma. Mccormack will score 15 plus this year. somma 10 plus as an impact sub and becchio will prob do 15 plus again. And paynter will prob be a waste of wages
I think that Gradel will operate behind Becchio with perhaps Burke on the right and Sam ON THE LEFT with Norris and Danns in midfield a new goalie Westwood would fit the bill a new left back and I think we might have the makings of a good team
McCormack is so good, he was ditched by Cardiff ........................................ He aint bad but theres much better. Love to see Somma playing up top with Work Horseio and perhaps a young talent like Hoilett, or Le Fondre
Oh come on, we can say the same about Somma. Davide was so good he was ditched by Pro Vasto, Olbia and San Jose Earthquakes! A lot of Cardiff fans still rated Ross anyway and wanted to keep him there. Either way, I think Somma and McCormack both have a role to play next season and should - if we decide to go 4-4-2 - be given an equal crack of the whip alongside that useless old donkey Becchio. I've already expressed my view about the superiority of 4-2-3-1, ideally I'd like to see that with the established quartet working their magic and Ross and Davide acting as supersubs. Anyway I don't want to reduce this to a formation argument, Ross definitely has a role to play and his finishing and set pieces definitely add something.
McCormack will come good for Leeds. A fully fit Ross will regain that confidence he had in the 2008/09 season when he was scoring every other game for Cardiff. Repeated hamstring problems probably knocked his enthusiasm for all out effort and he lost his way in the pecking order at Cardiff. Given a good start to the season and some sucess in finding the net I feel sure he will become a firm favourite.
Careful Lads, Ross used to have a presence on a number of the Cardiff Forums, and i stronly suspect that this thread may well have been started by Ross himself. If it is you Ross, i thought you were great at Cardiff and wish you all the very best with Leeds
I hope it is Ross himself! Then he can see how 99% of us back him & saw the raw talent he had in the run in.
If it is Ross, his IP address isn't based where I'd expect it to be. But if is then enjoyed your Leeds Salute after the goal against Burnley.
