I missed my first Swansea game in two years due to a saturday night out that went a bit wrong. Anyway just wanted to hear about the impressions on our new striker and what type you guys figure him to be. Thanks in advance, hugs all.
I only managed to see some of the game. He was a key part of Dyer's goal - put in a good shot, collected the rebound then made a nice lay back for Dyer. His first game and for me looked as good as Moore - this may not be saying much right now but I think there are better things to come. I'd like to see more of him.
He was quiet for most of the game and miss-hit a couple. I was comparing him to Sheckter just before he went and forced a goal for us (Dyer's goal). I think he is similar to Moore in terms of work rate (not much tracking back) but with less technique and more pace. To be fair though he didn't get a full game and we didn't see too much of him. Hopefully he will get a full game at Brum and we can see what else he has to offer.
I think that Laudrup is well aware of Schechter going wrong and I doubt he will buy another dud. For me Alvaro has proven ability at lower international level and just needs games to get PL tuned and match fit. He has obvious potential but showed his inexperience when he blazed over from a very good position. Give him time and he'll come good, particularly with his fellow Spaniards at the club helping to nurture his talent.
Personally I thought he had a mare but its far too early to judge after one game, the best I can say is that perhaps he was trying a bit too hard at times, has a terrific shot on him it seems, certainly blasted his shot from an acute angle
Well, yes, woke up in a strange place, apparantly I somehow used all the money on my card and had a VERY VERY long walk home. To the rest of you, thanks ... the lad probably just needs to get used to the tempo in the PL.
I would be interested in a combo of Vasquez up top and Poz behind him. Poz's pace and skill coupled with Vasquez's pace and shot strength would be tough for nBrum to cope with.
Missed a great chance(although it did come quickly to him). Put a good shot on target which led to the second goal. Was reasonably busy but too early to give an overall impression of him. More importantly he allowed Bony to have a rest
Not sure why anyone is surprised that he couldn't hold the ball up as he's obviously not that kind of striker. More of a sprint off the last man type. Totally not the way the rest of the side are used to their forwards playing so it will take a while for them to adjust to him being there.
Not bad for his debut , willing to make runs across their defence ,looked for the ball and generally made a nuisance of himself without doing anything exceptional well .His first game for us in a new league and a new team what else could we really expect ?
