suggesting Gary Neville could be up for the manager job Michael Gray being one that's advocating him ... one out the blue possibly?
Another massive gamble though? Think we need a manager with some management experience although it could be said he offers an intriguing left field appointment.
I would of loved Neville before PDC was appointed he really knows his stuff, but now given our position and his cushy job with sky and England then may not be right for him or us
Agreed Coming to safc would mean that he would have to give up 2 brilliant jobs to take a massive risk
Never liked Neville as a player but I'm sure he will make a fine manager one day. It's interesting this "gamble" argument though. The way I see it the really good proven managers are either in work or wouldn't even contemplate going to the managers graveyard that is SAFC. So if we aint going to gamble we would end up with a short list of Pulis, Mcleish, Mclaren or good forbid Warnock....etc It may not have worked last time but I hope we gamble and gamble big cause I couldn't stand any of those named above as our new gaffer.
He wouldn't accept our recruitment set up imo... As matter of fact most managers won't. Di Canio took it as it was a massive opportunity, but was let down severely this summer... Need to change it imo. If a manager identifies a particular player he should be signed I'm happy for De Fanti to use his contacts and sign players like Mavrias, and for him to sign players like Altidore and Giacc but the manager identify specific targets and have them signed
I met Micky Gray on Saturday night in Birmingham. I was trembling when I saw him to be honest but went over and had a really quick chat with him on the train. Decent chap, to my surprise, seemed absolutely forlorn at where we are. He seemed of the belief that the players we have aren't nearly up to scratch and that Di Canio had been dealt a ****ty hand. Having said that we agreed he was making a bigger meal of it than he perhaps should have been. I think Neville will do well as a manager but I'd prefer Ole Gunnar at this point in time.
