It seems a fairly even split on how we feel about Paolo. I would have kept him. The media have got what they wanted. His style was a bit erratic but I couldn't fault any of his interviews or press releases. He really wanted to do well for us and I reckon he's been made a scapegoat for others failings. Our transfer net spend of less than a million on freebies and cheap replacements, together with selling our best players and losing Rose didn't do Paolo any favours. Having said all that, we are where we are and like the rest of you I'll be behind the new boss whoever it turns out to be. Good luck to you Paolo and don't think we all wanted you out. No matter what else, we'll always have the 0-3 at the sports direct arena. Paolo Di Canio, 100 percent win ratio against the mags. Probably our only manager able to claim this.
Aye Good luck and if you ever do come back to the SOL as a manager - I for one will be applauding you for keeping us up last year
As a Swindon fan he will always be controverisial as he was at our club and he was always criticising players if they played badly or didnt put what he felt enough effort in but he would have turned it around. His first season with us we only won 2 out of the first 7 games then all of a sudden it clicked and we went on an unbeaten run of 12 games and ended up with the best defensive record in all leagues and top scorers in all leagues. Players with big egos dont like being criticised and they hold all the power which is wrong. I dont think Paolo will get another chance now in the premier league West Ham could be his only chance but that could lead to massive bust ups with the owners there. I think we will see him back in L1 maybe with Sheff Utd or maybe Wednesday in the championship. A hasty decision in my book but anyway good luck for the rest of the season.
Good luck Paolo...you've been sold down the river by those with no patience and foresight. Thanks for the rollercoaster ride and for having the balls to try playing attacking football... and last but not least...thanks for giving us one of the best days in our lives. WE HAD DIRTY KNEES TOO!!!
He got away with much in the lower leagues but has shown he simply cannot operate in this league. Had any manager ever lost a dressing room quicker than this bloke? Clough never had the Leeds dressing room to start with but lasted 44 days. Thanks for the derby day delight but as for the rest of it, thankfully it's now been removed. I don't think anyone with half a brain will employ him at any level other than 4th or 3rd division. He makes Keane seem calm in comparison.
A ****ing looney, who got the win over the mags and scouse ****s,,,,but apart from that did??????????????????
Gutted he has gone as i really liked the bloke and hoped he would be able to see the job through. However, does anyone else get the feeling he was just a stop gap? Come in, give everyone a kick up the arse, if it works great, if not then the original goal/idea has been achieved. Apparently the Di Fanti thing was well underway when MON was in the job, so maybe Ellis has got a long term plan/vision for the club
Well this is a piss poor show of thanks. He didn't set the world alight results wise but in 13 games he kept us up and spanked the mags. Bit of gratitude for that considering it's bragging rights and premiership football. It's a good luck thread and he's even been criticised. Jus sayin.
