"Today's result arguably benefited us rather than City. We have now got a defeat out of the way and they have used up a win." .
You had to park the bus against a midtable United team so what hope do you have of beating any of the top teams?
At the beginning of the season I predicted United wouldn't win a game against Chelsea or City and stand by it. Moyes is laughably incompetent. Playing two players in MF (neither of whom are renowned for their work rate) against the guile and power of City's midfield was only gonna end with one outcome. City stopped playing around the hour mark but could easily have scored a couple more had the gone for it.
Chelsea away (opening day, Mourinho factor) and City away (at any given time, let alone after a defeat) are about as hard as it gets.
compared to City and Liverpool away and Chelsea at home, but tbf they did a good win yesterday at Newcastle and did better than us against City
If Moyes keeps his record of not beating the top teams as he did at everton then ManU have 28 games to get top 4 not 38 like everyone else. They won't do it.
United have always struggled against City, Chelsea and Liverpool (at Anfield) but they've regularly had the beating of Everton, Arsenal and Spurs. It'll be very interesting to see how Moyes does against those sides because if he doesn't do well, then United are looking at a battle for top 4, never mind title. Fear factor has completely gone and I can't imagine going to Everton will be easy for Moyes given the antipathy they have for him up there now. Arsenal's midfield would also rip United's to shreds and they're defending a bit better so RVP/Rooney might not punish them as much as they have in the past. This isn't a brilliant Chelsea side by any means but it does have some fantastic footballers in it and also a manager with a huge amount of pedigree. That's one of the reasons why I'm openly confident we will finish above them.
We have played two teams away who treat us as their cup final and raise their game accordingly and one team at home who had no intention of trying to make a game of it and went away very happy with a point. From now on things should settle down and normal service will be resumed. The three games mentioned are usually seperated by weeks or even months, the fact they all came so close together makes them more noticeable.
