You might well be right Erik., but I think it boils down to the system in which these midfielders are being played in. There is often nothing ahead of them to aim at. Maybe we need to change it up a-bit and play both Defoe and Soldado for a few games. The premiership is now full of teams well drilled in the art of defending. Playing a lone striker in every game in this league will not help a talented midfield nor the lone Striker IMHO. There's more them enough evidence already, to suggests that you're right.

What've you done, Erik?! I disagree that we've got too many creative players, Lamela scored 15 league goals last season and is not what I'd call creative. Sigurdsson and Paulinho are also good goal threats. I think what's been shown is that we're playing a lot of attackers who haven't played together for very long. I'd expect us to be a bit inconsistent at this point but I think we will improve as the season progresses and our side settles.
Can't wait til Lamela gets a starting position, 2 assists in 2 sub appearances now. Townsend's been frustrating of late and I'm still not convinced by Soggy on the left, despite his goals the other day.

I think that Sigurdsson on the left is ok when we're playing Rose at left-back. With Naughton there the whole side just fails.

Fair comments WY - was trying to avoid mentioning Naughton..... Appreciate he is only a stand-in, but he is just not giving us anything. He is fallible defensively and provides nothing going forward (I remember one decent cross all game) and drifts inside giving us no width.
Exactly - Naughton seldom moves forward with conviction and when he does, almost inevitably drifts inside - straight into the area that Sig is occupying!!!
Agree. I've said this lots but we need goals from the 3 behind Bobby. Siggy provides that cutting in from the left but without Rose its a mess. I don't want him at 10 either, as i've said many times. But i have no grumbles with him left.
