Weve had this problem many times before, we got Granero from Real, he can look good there with their stars making him look good but he looked out of his depth here. Perhaps Carroll looked good being part of a good team but is nowhere when expected to be the main man like Granero?

Im just stating what Ive seen, hes shown nothing at all. I wouldnt be bothered if we sent him back now and lots of people were moaning about how bad he was today.

Ok flyer fair comments, not all players perform the same when changing teams, especially ball players like Carroll, as maybe the setup isn't right for him, which is why you need players with pace or that explosive burst.

Carroll should probably be at a team like Swansea where they play neat passes.

I just hope this loan move works out and he improves with confidence as he does have talent, yet also needs a chance to develop.

Our attacking is diabolical overall, its the worst in the league, we have scored 5 goals in the last 6 games although theyve all been clean sheets.

None of the central attacking midfielders have performed at all. I hope Kranjcar fixes that.

I saw Carroll play against Birmingham and thought he acquitted himself very well, especially as he hardly knew his team mates. He was hungry for the ball, always moved into space and looked comfortable in possession. He does need movement around him in order to play those incisive passes that we are all looking for. I just don't get this "lightweight" jibe: it's one of those things that if it gets repeated often enough, it becomes the accepted wisdom. Whilst he may not be built like Richard Dunne, I don't recall him getting brushed off the ball in the Birmingham game. I will admit that Townsend had a more immediate impact but I'm sure Carroll is going to be important for us. Let's give him a chance.

Have to say, as yet I am not convinced. But I have heard lots of good things about him so am willing to give him time.

He does seem lightweight to me, and was often pushed off the ball against Yeovil, a number of times. His passing wasnt all that either.

My one niggling doubt is that he played for Derby in this division but didnt make many appearances, so cant have done that well.

However, for me he was played far too deep versus Yeovil. He needs to be just behind the striker surely.

With Judo on this, showed potential vs Bham...I expect him to play in matches Harry thinks we will win, but not in matches when our back is against the wall. (Obviously dependant onthe right players being fit!

I think he will improve (if and when) we start playing with any flair.
He has no runners ahead of him and Austin is being marked within an inch of his life. Carroll has no chance.

But give him a chance. I expect he will feature less in the next few weeks...but if/when we become a good team...he will feature more and more...and probably end up dominating the league...well that is my hope

Good point! With only one man up front its easy for defences to mark Austin out of the game. If we had two, then thats gives more problems, and doubles the chances of Carroll finding one of them.

Tell you who does look good - Will Hughes of Derby. Only 18, he'll be a triffic player.

Our goal-scoring might be well below par but our attacking is not even close to being the worst in the league. Up until yesterday we've been having more shots on goal than our opponents in each game. So we must be attacking and creating chances to some degree. The fact is we lack a fit confident goalscorer which means we're not putting them away.
I swear there's some people here that would get more pleasure from seeing their negative insights of us being proved right rather than lose face while seeing us do well.

Perhaps Flyer drank too much scrumpy down there in Somerset and it turned him crazy? We could get him this T-shirt?
