To be fair to Hull City AFC he was only speculating on what some fans might be blaming the defeat on, I don't see him as a bad winner (bad winners would go onto your board and post responses to the Newcastle will beat Hull no problem threads).
Newcastle's goals well taken but first was a scuffed shot into the ground and bounced up and the lad was on hand to head it in. Second one was a soft one as we knocked it out straight out to their larker who despatched it coolly. Two well taken goals but neither with any craft. Apart from that can't really remember them threatening until that dreadful miss near the end. We kept calm, playing our game, playing our tactics and scored three (!) That's three wins in a row there now. I fully expect next time it will be "Geordie fans overwhelmingly expect defeat against Hull City"
Why was it "deluded" to expect a win vs you today? We were playing well and we won two games. It looked as if the first game really did us good. Playing Hull City at home, regardless of whether you like or not, will classed as an achieveable 3pts for every team in this division, the same as Newcastle at home will be an achieveable 3 pts for every team. Get over it. You should be happy that teams are seeing you as a team for the taking. It means you get to shock a few teams this season.
Hullo, Tash. Any chance you could get me unbanned from your board? It's been too long... What annoys us is not that fans predict their team will win, but that they just have no ****ing clue about our team and because, hey, we're 'only' Hull City AFC. An example would be the Norwich fan who, before their game with us at our place, wrote a long, clueless preview about how we lacked any quality players and would be lucky to get nil. Simply thinking you're better isn't the issue.
Of course it was to deluded to expect a win against us Hope for yes, but why should you realistically expect a win against us? Tradition? Club histories? I'm not expecting a win against West Ham next Saturday, hoping for yes, but they will set their stall out to stifle us and snatch a goal on the break, and if they turn up and we don't, then we lose. Simple as that.
All I heard on Radio Newcastle phone in last night (hilarious by the way, as you can imagine), was how poorly The Mags played, how Pardew's got to go, how Ashley's a twat etc.etc. No one, including the 'experts' said anything about how well we played. It was Ben Arfa's a flair player whose allowed an off day, not Rosy had him in his pocket. Usually you get a begrudging 'you gotta give credit to the opposition' but for us nothing. Two wins, one defeat and Tyneside lurches back into crisis.
A bit harsh. I like Newcastle and want them to do well, as I have a few mates who support them (born in Beverley and should be City fans, but instead have had season-tickets at St James' since they were a CL club...). The majority are quite sane and the few mental ones got a bit of a reality check after relegation in 2009. I'd sooner be a Mag than a Man United or Arsenal fan, put it that way
Bit of an exaggeration, i'd say the plastics of Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelski and Arsenal are much worse.
I hope our fans don't do something as daft as this bellend.
To be fair, the pundits generally agreed with the Mag fans. Lawrenson had us losing 2 - 0, and the Times had a home win as 51%, with about 24% chance of an away win. So far so good.
Unfortunately, they were all saying it in the build up to the match, and in the pubs we went, up there they announced our starting line up as such. Followed by some camp growling noise. I said i wouldn't get annoyed by it, but it will grate eventually.
