Watford
are hosting Norwich City from the Premiership after beating Bristol Rovers and Bournemouth in earlier matches. Norwich City arrive today after disposing of Bury. This is only the second time the two companies have met in cup matches, Norwich were successful in 1990-91 by 5:0 in a two match round.

Current form points in the direction of a home win as Watford have lost only once this season and are their divisions top scorers, with 19 league goals and five more in the two cup matches. Norwich City on the other hand scored six goals to beat Bury and have another three in their league games, which have not been very successful this season (one win and one draw in five games).

Excellent thread Ak, just one tiny thing, we are managed by Chris HUGHTON not Houghton!

I wish all you Hornets well and I hope we'll still be friends whoever wins!

<cheers>

Nice one AK - 5 *'s from me. Expecting Narge to bounce back after a poor display yesterday, but I think we will be too strong for them as we push forward, so I'm back to my usual 3-1..

I have never bet on anything so I don't really understand odds and regulations so perhaps someone can explain this to me.

Bet365 are offering odds of 2.63 for us to beat Norwich.
They are also offering the same odds, 2.63, for Norwich to win.
As there has to be a result - no replay etc - it would seem that if you put the same amount of money on both teams you are guaranteed a profit. This clearly can't be the case. What have I got wrong?

Maybe that's the odds for 90 minutes and they're expecting extra time?

This is a good fixture for us, although I would imagine both teams will make a number of changes it will be a good measure for Watford to see how we compare to a team in a position which we aspire to be in.

I expect us to be competitive and we have good chance of getting a result but despite our reasonable league position we have been patchy this season and have rarely played fluently for extended periods. I can see this being a draw and going to pens.

can I suggest a small experiment? 5 NZ Dollars on each bet and see if you do make a profit - let us know if you win enough to buy a cup of tea :)

Are you sure you want to be in our position?
Have you looked at our board recently and seen the amount of unrest on there?
This could well be an easier game for than you realise

The payout is usually only on 90 minutes play so a draw at that stage would see you lose regardless who you backed to win.

And I feel sure they don't have a "Draw No Bet" option on those odds (your stake returned if tied at 90)....

Norwich City’s club record signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel is set to sit out Tuesday’s Capital One Cup trip to Championship promotion hopefuls Watford after suffering a toe injury in the weekend Premier League defeat to Aston Villa. Gary Hooper will start at Vicarage Road and youngster Josh Murphy has also been drafted into Hughton’s cup squad. The City boss is confident van Wolfswinkel will be back in contention for this weekend’s Premier League trip to Stoke. Team captain Sebastien Bassong is poised to undergo a scan on his hamstring injury later on Monday to assess the extent of the damage that forced him off in the opening period against Villa. Hughton has already ruled the centre-back out of his Watford plans.

Tomorrow should be Chelsea loanee Josh McEachran's Watford debut after the midfielder joined the club on Friday and missed the trip to Barnsley.

Zola said: "He is in the squad and should be fit enough to play; whether he does or not I will have to decide tomorrow. He will certainly play a part of the game or all of it."

Norwich fans seem to be a bit divided as to what team they ought to play and there seems to be pressure on Houghton...

We will probably play a "weaker side" but I feel it will need to be physically bigger than the side against Bournemouth!
