I agree with this. I don't like this 'no team could beat them' rubbish that gets splashed about. If no team could beat them, how did Hercules beat them 2-0 at the Nou Camp? How did Arsenal beat them at the Emirates?

People will always come out and say 'oh, well they didn't have so and so in the team that day' and various excuses, but the fact is they can be beaten and have been beaten. To sit back and and simply dismiss a poor performance because it was against an 'unbeatable' team is nonsense.

Or you can look at it being a final and this Barcelona team and it's individuals have a great knack of stepping up to the big stage and more often than not they will win a final they are in. I think we all know Barcelona would have beaten any single team on the planet playing the way they did that night.

We don't 'know' anything of the sort. Maybe they would, but there is no proof that in a one off game that they'd beat everybody. You can reiterate how well they played (which isn't proof) as many times as you want, but against a different opposition, the match wouldn't be a carbon copy would it?

Exactly my point so the Liverpool fans using this game to judge how bad United are, along with the 3-1 'hammering' you gave us at Anfield, are deluded.

I agree that a on-off game is no basis on which to judge a team, and I'm not one of those doing so. Had you scored in those first 10 minutes, you may have won at Wembley. Had Berbatov's curler gone in at Anfield it might have been a different result. A final for the most part only tells you who is the best on that particular night. Of course, you have to prove yourself over the rounds leading up to it.

With all of this in mind, however, I still feel Barcelona are not unbeatable.

Whether liverpool would have offered better resistance to barca that night has now become a moot point,

However, this thread thread is now a classic piece of proof that the majority of the mancs on here know little or nothing about the game apart from who won what.

They are incapable of having a discussion that might infer any kind of weakness about utd without just blabbing on about being top of the league.

You guys really think you'd have beaten Barca. I'll admire the confidence, but it would just be a question of how many they score.

I seem to remember that Webb was in charge of the Key chelsea game and gave them some lucky decisions, but don't let that get in the way of your ranting guys.

Good god. People who use results like that, especially from 4 years ago are pathetic. You would get hammered by them now pure and simple.

Offering your closed minded certain opinion is a fail from the start:)

I wasn't at all certain Barca would turn up and win, I knew the odds were good but they have at times been less than their best this season. Also, United are a bag of sheite and were shown to be so winning aleague by default and having a day trip to the final, it was all a false sense of security that got smashed by the tack hammer. The list of failings of United and its manager on the night is endless..

Yes a bit like when you were embarrassed in the final against AC Milan in 07. It shown that 05 was nothing more than a freak result, where Milan come out at half-time 3-0 up and thinking they had it won. You got 3 goals in 6 mins. Then you hung on by the skin of your teeth to win on pens as usual. Then you just got worse and worse with that clown Rafa in charge but don't forget it was the owners fault. Even though Rafa spent more than United in that period...So how you can call United ****e yet is quite simply laughable, considering in this '****e' league you finished 6th, got knocked out of two bob cups by Braga and NORTHAMPTON, but no because Kenny the Bottler is back, everything is rosy again.

Just you watch out M..m...mister Ferguson...

    YOU RUINED OUR LIVES!

Embarrassed? The score was 2-1 to Milan and one of those goals was blatant handball <doh>

Embarrassed is getting stuffed 3-1 and about 19 touches of the ball <laugh>

Jesus you mancs get thicker by the day.

Embarrassed in the final in 2007.
We lost 2-1,hardly embarrassed.Secondly Inzaghi's second goal should never have stood as he did a ''John Terry''.He handled.
Barcelona's 3-1 victory by any means didn't flatter them....due to bad finishing on Barca's, part it should have rightly 8-1.
United had one shot in 90 minutes and that was marginally off-side.
They also had 19 touches of the ball,I mentioned 19 due to the fact its Man United fans favourite number.
Ferguson due to his overall arrogance and stupidity was out-fought,out-thought and made look like a prized plum.

Another manc re-writing history and forgetting how Bayern battered them for 89 minutes and how only for terry slipping on his arse they'd still be on 2.

Actually if you remove the 'M' from his user name, and then re-arrange the remaining letters in whatever sequence you like and use them as many times as you like, you come up with **** OFF COCK, which is uncannily appropriate <laugh>
