Hilarious. He had his man on toast all match, had a great game today aside from the penalty. People saying we didn't look like scoring? We didn't create as many chances I would have liked, but certainly better than Villa's chances. Get a grip people!
I thought we looked good today...dominated the game...still lacking that final ball which is so frustrating at the moment. No need to panic we look good and once we get that final ball sorted we shouldn't have many problems
There seemed no urgency from some of our players. Too many players walking back instead of running back to help. Snodgrass not being able to put in a decent cross.
I admit he caused problems for the back, but his crossing was then dreadful, even from corners. He seems to be trying too hard at the moment.
I have a bit of a bad feeling about this season.Too early to say we will go down but I think we will part of the mini league at the bottom. And i'm not normally a pessimist. We look lacking in a cutting edge.Mind you two thirds the division look that way.
It's easy to blame snoddy he should have scored the penalty...I personally would have had rvw taking it to get himself in the scoresheet but I have no problem with snoddy taking them
His crossing wasn't great, no, but then I'd say he created more chances than anyone else in the match. He was a great asset for us today, and blaming him for the penalty doesn't change that. I don't know why van Wolfswinkel or Elmander didn't take it, but in the end it was still an ok penalty, just Guzan was more than equal to it and made an amazing save.
RvW should have taken the penalty - end of. For penalties you need a cool head, which is not Snodgrass's strength.
Because it is possible to miss a really good chance (Or quite a few really good chances) and score a not so good chance? Now piss off.
Guzan caught just about every cross without so much of a challenge today. That kind of final ball just doesn't work. The more inventive stuff was quite good with Rusty being as potent as any one up front. It just seems that too much goes through Snoddy and when it fails we blame him, not the team. Some signs of promise, but I just hate losing to Villa.
I thought Russell Martin was very good today going forward. For me, he looked the best of our players (my stream was poor in the first half though). Other than that, hard to find positives. The performance wasn't dreadful, but it was toothless. With the fact that we are utter **** away from home, plus the next home game to come against Chelsea, I think we will be bottom of the league within a few weeks. It's hard to be optimistic about this season.
Hate to tell you fella that chances don't win football matches but goals do! Btw Kei Kamara has just scored
Disappointed with the result. No doubt about it. The lack of cutting edge going forward has cost us points today, which means it is a big concern. We all know the lack of invention so I thought I start with some positives. Firstly Ryan Bennett showed why he should be starting today, I thought he was really solid in defence. Russell Martin was brilliant going forward and warranted leaving Whittaker on the bench. I thought Snodgrass recovered from his penalty miss well and probably had his best game so far this season. I thought when Hooper came on we looked better going forward, it could be the situation he found himself in but I thought his movement alongside RVW was promising. Finally Fer impressed me again today. On the otherhand I thought Garrido again wasn't very good. I think he is struggling a bit and can't wait for Olsson to be filling the left back position. I think we really need more creativity in the middle of the park. Yes we had chances today but we are wasting RVW and Hooper's movement by knocking it out wide and hoping RVW will head it in. He scored a cracking header against Everton but I think we really need to try and seek out his runs more.
Well you asked, so I explained. Don't then make out that I claimed football matches are always won by the team that deserved to. Good news is, is that if we play in the mould we did today for the rest of the season, we should start winning games and finish higher in the Premier League than you in the Championship for the third season running.
Though hugely frustrated today, I did think it was a good performance in the end, though it's true the final ball was too often missing. Villa had two good chances and converted one of them after a fortunate rebound. It was great to see Hooper and Pilks come on for half an hour and I thought the substitutions were good. Fer was dominant in the middle and IMO will get better as the season goes on. Hooper being back is excellent and I hope he starts with RvW against Stoke.
